Description
One of the older brewpubs still in existence, it is said to have opened in 1835, although the pub building dates from the 1860s. Came into the Pardoe family in the 1920’s when Ma Pardoe became the Landlady / Brewer. Following her death, it was owned by a number of parties, including Tom Hoskins and Wiltshire, with brewing ceasing in 1993. Following a major refurbishment, the brewery reopened in 2001. Although much of the brewing equipment has been renewed, the 7BBL plant is still in the original layout.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Labled as "Pardoe’s Bumblehole". Pours clear gold with a soft, white foam head. Doughy malt nose with light hay. Very sweet flavor, doughy, with white sugar, straw and vanilla frosting. Some wet straw, too. Light to medium bodied with soft, fine carbonation. Very sweet to finish, lightly sticky, with sugary dough, faint citrus. Surprisingly heavy-duty. Alright, even with the sweetness.

Cask, handpump at The Plough, Worcester, 16.09.11 Pours clear gold with a white bubbly head. Good crisp and fruity beer and with a nice citrussyness leaching out of this, touch pithy with some late grapefruit getting in on the act. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3
