Description
A taste of the moors on tap.

Established in 2003 by Nick Boughton and Jon Hunt, the brewery is located in an 18th-century textile mill and uses an eight-barrel plant. More than 30 regular outlets are supplied. The Millstone Brewery restores a traditional craft to the town of Mossley, situated where the counties of Cheshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire meet.

Today Millstone is still producing popular beers that are being enjoyed not only locally but nationwide through our trusted distributors. Having brewed numerous beers over the years, we've narrowed our beers down to a strong core range of three regulars, including a stout, and three occasional. This doesn't mean that we're not working on or developing new beers so keep your eyes peeled.

Cask @ Booth Wood Inn, Rishworth. Blonde with a small creamy head. Hopped with both citrus and floral notes. 10 years later it's still pretty much the same, nice and easy drinking, this time at the Navigation Inn, Dobcross, with a thicker head.

On cask at Stalybridge Buffet Bar October 19, 2013 - A hazy yellow body, bit of a head, but not much. Nose is a grassy mix of odd fruits, picking out pineapple and perhaps kiwi. Taste has a metallic kick to it, not what I’d expected, but still a bit disappointing.

Taste of sweet citrus and leafy hops supported by earth malts. Mild dry bitter endnotes. Smooth mouthfeel. On par with the style (Manchester, 27.01.2013).

Cask @ City Arms, Manchester. Very dark with a red hue and a small creamy off-white head. It’s a milky stout with a full roasted taste. Has a light aroma. At The Rising Sun in Mossley in 2024 it looked better but was more floral in design.
