Pours clear amber into a shaker. White head crackles and quickly recedes to nothing. Honey and agave aromas. Soft with warm chili and sweet agave upfront turning to hot pepper skin in the lasting finish. Spice is nice, rest is lacking.

Red currant, brett, lemon zest aroma. Cloudy copper, thin head. Tart currant with bretty phenols. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Purchased from a bargain bin 3 years past its bottling date. It holds up fairly well.

Not totally murky in appearance. Aroma of moderate fruit, weak grass. The flavor shows mild fruit, herbal, and grass-like notes. Soft mouthfeel with a low bitterness. With 10,000 other examples of this style, (in this region alone) this is not really memorable.

Bottle from Beer Ma. Smuttlabs The Stallion 11% Imperial Stout aged in red wine barrels Geez 11% if I’d known I probably would’ve put off openingvthis until I had a friend to help me. Oh well... An inky black pour that had a rusty looking head of foam but it was gone so fast it left me wondering if I’d imagined it. The aroma is potent and features cacao, red wine and boozy fruity elements from far away but on closer sniff the chocolate comes to the fore but you get smoke and red wine as well. Full to medium bodied the taste gives an Ashey-smokey flavor (peat?) then red wine vinous fruit before some oak woodsy and chocolate elements. Not boozy tasting but it gives you a pleasing warmth and is smoother than I anticipated. An interesting take on a BA Imperial Stout.

Can from the source. Slightly hazy light golden color with a good sized bubbly white head that persists. Dripping with juicy fruits on the nose. A bit of earthy grassy bitterness towards the finish and a bit of bready sugary malt to balance. Nice break from the onslaught of gritty hazy IPA's Ive been trying lately.

Can from the brewery Hazy murky dark lemon in color with a small white head that dissipates. Fruity earthy hops on the nose with a sweet breadiness. Flavor is sweet too sweet for something that is supposed to be dry and bubbly. Its has an odd fake sugary flavor not quite lactose, maybe malto dextrin? It was drinkable but didn't wow me at all.

The way IPA’s use to be brewed. Flavor has pineapple, stone fruits, and ends on some bitter melon. Bitterness and fruit is at a decent balance. Falls in the classic style of the style.

Midtown tasting. Orange, lightly cloudy and with sone white bubbles on the top. Nose is tart, fruity and lightly funky, kind of feels like cider or even sidra. Taste is tart and funky, farmhouse. Some whiskey comes out as well but its not boozy. Lots of oak though. Whiskey coming out also in the linger. Relatively thin body, feels lighter than 10% abv for sure.
