Description
Wight Knuckle Brewery was founded in 2021, by brothers (Fergus & Edward) and dad (George Bristow), and is based out of the Pilot Boat in Bembridge.

We hope to bring an end to the bland European lagers that are ever-present in our Island pubs and restaurants and lead the way in bringing craft, modern beers to the Isle of Wight with the Island's first microbrewery. Using only the highest quality natural British ingredients, and brewing in a sustainable way, we want to bring our passion for the Island into every beer we brew. We are proud to say that all of our natural beers are unfined, unfiltered, unpasteurised and 100% vegan.

Isle Of Wight Holiday Beer#64. Hazy dark amber and carbonation as part of its taste here. Behind the bubbles it's quite a gritty bitter tasting IPA. Hoppy to an extent, with an easy enough strength. Found at the Isle Of Wight distillery pub.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers! Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malt, a bit ashy and earthy, chocolate and liquorice. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Very nice for a low alcohol beer.

Can. Chinook, Amarillo, Citra hops. Hazy orange gold beer, good bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Airy malts, sweet enough for this brew. Good US hoppage, a reasonably bright citrus underpinned by cooling pine. Some citrus peel. Orange, tangerine and mandarin. Light finish. Very good pale ale (not really an IPA is it?). Impressed with this brewery, would like to try some of their other brews.

Can in Brighstone, IOW. Chinook, Cascade and Simcoe hops. Almost clear orange gold beer, small and short lived bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, mildly dry, decent fine enough. Light malts, a slightly thin but pleasing creamy sweetness. The trio of classic US hops bring crisp pine into light but bright citrus hops, some mild marmalade and bitterish peel but also good bright juicy citrus. Finishes light and crisp. Good stuff, clean, light and drinkable.

Can in Brighstone, IOW. Just a light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, a modest sweetness. A reasonable lager tang in the mid. The Magnum and Hallertau Mittelfruh bring crisp pine, a light noble hop floralness and a fairly bright citrus that is peel dominated. Light finish. Clean and drinkable, for me, to be top notch, it needs more noble hop bite.

3rd October 2024 Can in Brighstone, IOW. Magnum, Simcoe, Mosaic a d Citra hops. Almost opaque deep amber brown beer, decent tan head. Smooth and airy palate, dry decent fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a mellow chocolate, as much if not more soft malt and malt cream. The quartet of modern hops sit lightly on the back end, light pine, very light citrus and just the mildest pinch of hop spice. Overall it's clean and well balanced and pretty sessionable for the style.

16/9/2023. Can at the Vojens GP beer share. Bought direct from the brewery. Pours black with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, tropical, citrus, blackberry, ash, roasted malt. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, average carbonation. Dry, ashy, fruity finish. Pretty decent.
