Greige head with purplish sheen over orange-brown rimmed black beer, pouring viscously. Booze, wood, charcoal, roast, sweet liqueur. Roast, vanilla, cream, coffee (especially retronasal). Sweet, if nowhere cloying. Very late, a more pronounced coffeeflavour appears. Very well-bodied, some alcohol, slick-oily. Good carbonation. Tiramisu, Amaretto... I feared the worst. But then, it proved to be quite good, and even grew on me. Pastry on the next level.

Cream-russet small head over deep dark redbrown beer. Rum, rumbonen, raisins. Felt, musk. Black cardamome. Eggnogg, some roast, rum, booze, musk. Alcohol & fusels, raisins. Dried red/dark fruit. Fiery MF, furious alcoholheat, some alcoholthinning. Medium carbonation. For a rum barrel aged beer, I rather like it, which is far from obvious. Weak souls, please abstention.

330 ml can. Pours a dull dark mahogany with full foamy head. Aromas of caramel/brown sugar, dark fruit, some dankish bittering hops and bready malts. Flavors are big sugars and big doughy malts leading with some underlying dried fruit. Unrefined and too sweet and malty.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of strong black coffee, oak, nuts, ash, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of oak, sour mash, dark fruit with figs leading, espresso, vanilla and oily roasted malt. Unique. Very good.

Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with a balanced spike of alcohol.
Tidy sipper.

Bottle at home shared with Laura. Opaque black color, average sized brown colored head. Aroma is malts and a sick amount of espresso. Flavor is malts, insane espresso again, bitter with lingering bitter espresso beans after that, I don't think I've had 3 beers in my life that had a stronger espresso bomb than this. Over the top in the end, even though I like it as a coffee / espresso lover, but this is too much. But I still like it. Even though i don't get bourbon & whiskey...

Bottle at home. Opaque black color, medium sized beige head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, barrel aging going on in there clearly, I guess it's rum but it doesn't taste like that imo, light raisins, some bitter notes in the finish. Sticky texture. Quite nice though, I like it.

Can. Near clear amber beer, small bubbly cream colour head. Airy smooth palate, a mild viscosity, reasonable fine carbonation which is absolutely fine for a big barleywine like this. Smooth rich caramel and cream malts, not that sweet. A mild bready richness. Rich dried fruits and a touch of brandy. Smooth finish. No discernable heat and only a mild alcohol spice on this hefty abv barleywine. An impressive and drinkable classic barleywine. Nice job.

Can from Stacks.
A: clear amber, small, off-white head.
A: overripe strawberry, plum, fig jam, cake, toffee, brandy.
T: sweet plum, fig, peach, toffee, fruit cake, sugared tea.
F: herbal hops, dried fruits, boozy brandy-like alcohol.
P: full body, syrupy-sticky texture, soft carbonation.
Certainly not on the subtle side. Expected a bit more hoppiness for the style though.
Magus, röstine, linnaseline, vaniljene, bourboonine, tanniinine, kohvine, alkone, lagritsane. Ok, teoorias peaks meeldima, aga ei libise liiga hästi.
