Description
The Knoblach inn has been in Schammelsdorf since 1880 and it has been brewing there for about this long. Today Michael Knoblach is the resident master brewer. The Knoblachs are deeply rooted in their homeland and maintain good contact with regional suppliers and farmers. They attach great importance to preserving and actively promoting the diversity of the Bamberg region. For this purpose, the raw materials are, as far as possible, bought exclusively from the region. This not only has the advantage of boosting the domestic economy, but is also reflected in the quality. The ingredients couldn't be fresher.

Light copper colour, transparent, a bit of carbonation. Good and dense white head, nice persistence and lacing. Aroma shows notes of dark bread, caramel and a slight herbal hint. Smokiness (ham) is definitely there but not dominant. Taste reflects the aroma: starts sweet with caramel, maybe slightly nutty, finishes in good balance with light herbal/floral hints. Plus light smokiness throughout. Light body, very easy and smooth, light to medium crispness brings just enough life. A clean, lightly smoked lager

Keg at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clearing copper colour, rich coarse head. Mild smoky ham aroma. Dry with light-medium body and rounded, spritzy mouthfeel. Ham and notes of grass. Mid bitter finish. Excessive carbonation disturbs an otherwise harmonious rauchbier.

Fläschla (otto holt obst):Golden to deep golden, visible carbonation, firm creamy white head; moderate grainy-fruity nose with mild, but distinctive herbal-hoppy traces; pretty dry bitter flavour, but still with a certain residual sweetness; light bodied, crisp MF; slightly lingering dry bready-grainy finish with a hoppy "tail". The right franconian answer to thin german "summer-pale-ales"...

Flasche („Schammelsdorfer Räuschla“) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Tiefes Goldgelb, klar. - In der Nase warmes süßes Hellmalz mit leichter Karamel-, schwacher Honig- und zarter Kräuternote. - Antrunk für ein Märzen etwas blaß mit schwach karamelligem hellen Malz von dezenter Süße und milder herbaler Hopfennote. Durchschnittliche Rezens, ein wenig fülliger. Im Abgang schwache Kräuternote und Anklänge an Waldhonig. - Von einem „himmlischen Märzenbier“ hatte ich mir etwas mehr versprochen.

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy, golden colour with a blond and firm foamy layer. Mildly grainy malty nose with notes of white bread and subtle fruity accents, accompanied by a touch of herbal hoppy spice. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a crisp mf. Dry-ish malt character with bready and grainy notes, as well as a good dash of drying herbal hops; slim but not watery dry malty and herbal hoppy finish. A pleasant summer Lager. 12.VIII.16
