Description
The brewery (location) is closed, beer is being brewed in Alabama @ Oyster City Brewing.

It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994. Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing. His brother, Scott, fell right in with him. Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!

We have tasting Rooms in Asheville, Morganton and Charlotte NC. Our kegs & cans are distributed in TN, NC, SC, GA and AL.

355 ml. can. 211-18. Dark furniture brown going to black, small mocha head. Nose is stale chicory coffee, bay leaf, herbal spices, touch liquorice, herbal coffee & stale coffee grounds, old pantry. Taste is herbal coffee, chicory, bay leaf, low mocha, old chocolate, almost touch BE, dash liquorice,… Low grainy, chicory & liquorice body. Sweetness is what one wants in a brown ale in general I think and some dullness, not these old kitchen spices with bitterness, chicory coffee & old pantry tasty. Finish is lingering stale cheap coffee grounds. Not where it should be I think.

Draft at the Charlotte source. Cloudy to murky orange amber color scant head. Citrus aroma with light pine. Taste is mainly fruit juice, no bitterness worth mentioning. Everything I dislike about NE IPAs.
