Description
The brewery (location) is closed, beer is being brewed in Alabama @ Oyster City Brewing.

It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994. Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing. His brother, Scott, fell right in with him. Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!

We have tasting Rooms in Asheville, Morganton and Charlotte NC. Our kegs & cans are distributed in TN, NC, SC, GA and AL.

Pour is a complete black with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty much all coconut with a slight semisweet chocolate. Flavor is a decent amount of coconut with some bitter chocolate. It has a pretty thin mouthfeel and there is not much, or any roasted malt presence. On the other hand if you like toasted coconut with a little chocolate in the background then this is the beer for you.

Can code 1916wz. Pour is fairly clear with precipitants floating around. Slightly below room temperature. Fair amount of brightness on the uptake. Not bad as the session continues. could do with a little less spices.

10 week old can into a tulip. A: Deep orange colored finely hazed pour with a tall yellow/beige frothy head. Great retention and lace. S: Stale brown bread scent and nothing else T: Resinous pine and that familiar bitter orange rind flavor that I associate with some ambers. Not bad but not what I had in mind. More of a malt bomb. M: Light to medium heft and average carbonation with a very slight resin on the finish. O: Again, not bad at all but a slight disappointment as I get no citrus, let alone a truckload. Not a repeat purchase.
