Description
The brewery (location) is closed, beer is being brewed in Alabama @ Oyster City Brewing.
It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994. Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing. His brother, Scott, fell right in with him. Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!
We have tasting Rooms in Asheville, Morganton and Charlotte NC. Our kegs & cans are distributed in TN, NC, SC, GA and AL.

Can from Bruisin Ales. Pours dark copper with a beige head. Pie spice is the aroma. Med body, maybe more. Flavor is quite pie spice. I think ginger and allspice may be a bit more than common in pies. And clove! Good stuff. Can’t tast pumpkin, but pumpkin has no taste! :)

Can from Bruisin Ales. Pours lightly copper tinged gold with a white head. Aroma of fruity hop, mild these, and some not at all dark malt support. Med body, or nearly. Flavor is light fruity hop, some light caramel, and a pretty decent dose of bitter. Not kidding about the 65 IBU. Sort of English bitter on a rocket. And I don’t mean arugula. Or maybe I should, since the hop is a bit herbal. The fruit hop likely isn’t bitterifying (new word there!) this ale. I’m pretty much liking it.

Pour is a dark reddish with a large white head. Aroma is pretty much a full assault of pie spices. Lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Flavor is not as much spice as the aroma let on but this is still a pumpkin beer that relies heavily on pie spice. I’m a sucker for a nice spiced ale and this does not disappoint. Also kudos for being lower in alcohol than most pumpkin beers without sacrificing the flavor.

Icy cold 8 week old can into a tulip. A: Hazy medium pale gold with an inch of frothy foam. Good retention and patches of lace. S: Sweet spuce scent with light lemon/orange notes. T: Once allowed to warm a bit, taste is light, very bitter and piney up front, fleshing out slightly with dry lemon or grapefruit pith and eventually a bit of tart fruit. M: Crisp and light but also thin and watery. Clean dry finish. O: Not bad tasting and kudos for being a bit different but overall this does not offer enough substance to warrant repeat purchases.
