Description
The brewery (location) is closed, beer is being brewed in Alabama @ Oyster City Brewing.

It all began with a Christmas gift in 1994. Billy Pyatt, a notoriously hard guy to buy presents for, fell in love with the carboys, pots, hydrometers, grains, hops, chemistry, and physics involved in brewing. His brother, Scott, fell right in with him. Their love became an obsession that could only be resolved by going pro – not an easy thing to do in 1999!

We have tasting Rooms in Asheville, Morganton and Charlotte NC. Our kegs & cans are distributed in TN, NC, SC, GA and AL.

Pour is a murky brown with a small white head. Aroma is a nice fresh raspberry. I don’t get much of the peanuts but the strong raspberry makes up for it. Flavor is more of the peanuts and the raspberry is barly noticeable. For a gimmick beer this is fine. The ingredients don’t all come together at the same time but separately it’s as advertised. Raspberry aroma with a peanut flavor.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a large white head. Aroma is more of a German hefe than saison. A nice banana and clove with some creamy vanilla. Flavor is more saison-like with a decent yeast esters and green hop. Finish is a bit spicy and peppery. I do get more of the banana after the swallow. This is a decent and flavorful beer. More of a hefe/saison hybrid than anything else.

Can. Golden body with a frothy, white head. Light aroma of pine, grapefruit, pineapple, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of pineapple, citrus, light raw grain, lingering bitterness. Both taste and aroma not as bold as an IPA should be.

Draft during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Cheers! Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Novel beer - definitely evocative of a raspberry PB&J, actually. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish, with wholegrain bread, raspberry jam. Good stuff.

Draft at the brewery during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear amber-brown with a light, foamy white head. An OK beer overall. The character is defined by toasted brown bread, dirt, dry toffee and leafy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty well balanced on the finish, with simple dry bread, mild leafy bitterness. Fine.
