Bottle from the brewer. Dark redbrown colour, white creamy foam. Nose of wood, oak, red fruit, berries, apples, barrels. Taste is tart and sweet. Vanilla and red fruit. Apples and oak. Very complex, very well balanced. Warming alcohol in the finish. Very nice beer to sip slowly. This is a winner!

January 2016 @home - 50cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Amber brown beer with very small head. Nose is dried fruits, caramel. apple. Taste is apple, dried fruits, some caramel, sweet and sweet sour. Full of taste. Just a pity the barrel doesn’t come through.. As expected after test tastings.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, touch amber. Bit clear, but too dark to actually see trough, obviously. Small white head. Smell is dark fruits, gentle and elegant. Taste is at least to be called unique ! Dry, rather thin, but enough taste to pull it off ! mild sour, with a sweet, fruity undertone. Rich malty back, that doesn’t come to the surface. spiced, and sweetness up front ( reminding of the herbal side of coca cola, but without the bad aspects of it ) , still - this is extremely elegant. Alcohol warmth in the back, yet no boozy taste. Indeed, a very good one. the sweetness is a bit weird though ( not malty, and not clearly Sugar. not oaky enough for me to think about the character of the barrel being this intense. I kinda don’t know where the sweetness here is extracted from, but it sure is unique.

Small transparent head over muddy reddish-brown beer. Alcohol, fusels, brandy, calvados (easily recognised - if you know it) and winecasks. Very sweet-fruity, sweet cider, strawberry, ripe banana, raisins, alcohol & fusels. Sweet-sticky, alcoholheat, viscous but not terribly full-bodied. Really sweet, but rather excellent, IMHO. Thansk to M. & L. V.!

Thanks to PriorL! 500 ml. bottle sampled @ “Tim’s orgasmic Trillium tasting”. Now this is a clear departure from the kind of beers that new breweries usually enter the Belgian beer market. Cheers to that alone. This one was a rather pricey one for a new & unproven brewery. Pours deep amber, little mocha head. Nose is sweet oxidation mixed with spirit, dried fruits, booze, warming Calvados layered on top, strong oxidation, huge sweetness, quite a bit of alcohol with some apple & pear syrup, thick syrupy. Taste is akin to an old, oxidized & sour barley wine, sour red wine & red grapes with strong spirit (let us say Calvados), hugely sweetness, warming alcohol, sour candy, warming, almost like they added a dash of Oud Bruin to this one, sherry-like oxidation, big caramelized apples, pear & apple syrup, hugely sweet & syrupy. Carbonation is low to very low. Sweetness is out of this world, mixes interestingly with some sourness (is this intentional, nothing in the bottle suggests sourness) but it does work. Interesting oxidation akin to a very old Barley wine & big spirit-qualities. Challenging, possibly not entirely intentional. I rather like it but it is hard to drink, I can see this one working as a sipping beer, would take a long time to drink.

16/X/15 - 50cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: 5/IX/15 (2015-1495) Thanks to PriorL for sharing the bottle!

Clear amber to reddish brown beer, creamy beige small head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: dried fruits, spicy, sugary, bit sourish, infected? Also oxidized, spicy, some cloves. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very sour, lemony, fruity and sweet notes. Aftertaste: some tannins, funky, bitter, oxidized, apples, more oxidation. I got a feeling the beer got broken through oxidation...
