Nose is funk, smoke, earthy apples, tannins, grains, herb.
Taste comprises dusty apple, campfire, tannins, Islay cask evident, apple core, burnt caramel.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close.
Solid.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTm. Pours mostly clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white topping. Light sweet flavour with nice lemony tartness, balanced funk, citric acidity, a little melon. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Clean and tidy to finish, lovely and refreshing tartness. Sound.

750ml bottle from HOTM. Slightly hazed, orange colour, thin bubbly rim and aroma of islay cask, peaty, phenolic. Taste is sweet, appley, loamy, peat, mingled with juicy fruit, bright fleshy notes, then wood barrel, smoke, iodine, and drying bittersweet tannin. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry fruity & woody tannic at the finish. Very drinkable.

Keg at the Balance taproom, MCR, 04/10/24. Deep claret to purple topped with a crimson cap that escapes to the edge. Nose is full on beetroot, earthy, bitter berries, herb. Taste is beetroot forward, dry mud, herb, light spice, hedgerow, red berry tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a mellow puckering bite. Fun to try but a little 1D and full on beetroot.

Taste comprises bramble berry, blackcurrant, herb, straw, barnyard strokes, mellow acidic bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced puckering kiss. Solid.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from HOTM. Pours clear, light yellow, mildly effervescent with a frothy, pure white head. Light sweet flavour with soft citric tartness, balanced dry funk, but of salinity, lemon peel, grass, pine needles. Light bodied with massaging carbonation. Lightly drying finish, nice cleansing saltiness, further citric tang, pale wood dryness, mild citrus pith. Wonderful beer. Great depth for the ABV.
