Keg at BD Camden, 24/10/16. Light black with a well appointed tan head. Nose is charr, roasted notes, earthy red berry, semi dank hop exhaust, spice, red berry skins. Taste comprises roast malt, pine, Ribena berry, charr, toasted brown bread, grains, biscuit, tropical fruit tang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, earthy hop bitterness peppers a drying close. Solid CDA.

Black beer. There’s zesty citrus and toasted malt in both the aroma and flavour. Quite light in body and it’s the sour citrus and hop that lingers. Feels more like a black IPA. Tasty though.

Keg at BDSB - London. Pours deep black-brown with a frothy, khaki head. The nose holds burnt pine, minerals, dry cocoa. Light sweet flavour with ashy roasted malts, more toasted pine, earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with more ash, baking cocoa, piney bitterness. Good stuff.

Keg at BDSB. It pours jet black with a medium beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, piney, varnish, fruity, berry, compote and plum. The taste is smooth, bitter, rich roasted malt, earthy roast, umami, liquorice, cocoa, dark chocolate, jammy, plum and prune with a soft finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome and very drinkable.

The Maltings, York. Keg. Almost opaque dark red - brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Palate is light, airy and semi dry. Decent fine minerally carbonation. Nice CDA dark malt base, light but carrying a little roast, mildly bitter. Trace of coffee. Mild Parma Violets and candy fruits. Mellow piney hop leads to well integrated orangey citrus. Light finish. It all comes together very well in to a light, tasty and very drinkable CDA.
