Bottle shared at the CBC big bottle share. 7/7/2016. Many thanks to Paul for this one. A clouded yellow straw coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is nice fresh saison yeast, straw,, apple. Plastic. Flavour is composed of of saison, tangy apple, straw, straw, frothy. Palate is frothy, Refreshing, airy carbonation. Solid saison.

Bottle shared at the CBC big bottle share. 7/7/2016. Many thanks to Paul for this one. A clouded yellow straw coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is saison yeast, hint that of apple and bretty funk, straw, Refreshing. Flavour is composed of light grains straw, light funk, bretty, pineapple and hints of lemon rind. Palate is medium light bodied with a frothy carbonation. Nice saison yeast.

Bottle as Passarola Pique-nique Series:Hibiscus Saison at the Craft Islington bottle share. Thanks Andre! It pours bright deep pink with a thick light pink head. The aroma is fresh, floral, spicy, pepper, hibiscus, red fruit, berry skin and candy cane. The taste is crisp, firmly dry, bitter, bright, floral, hibiscus, light tartness, red berry skin, juniper and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. What’s not to like? Crisp and refreshing. Really nice.

Bottle as Passarola Pique-nique Series: Rye Saison shared at the Craft Islington. Thanks for the bottle Andre! It pours hazy bright gold with a thick white head. The aroma is fresh, bready, banana, lemon rind, spice, orange Tango, Irn Bru, apricot and ginger. The taste is crisp, bitter, firm dryness, cracker, spice, white bread, straw, barnyard, grassy, white grape skin, gooseberry and wood with a dry finish. I really like the balance. Good depth and high drinkable. A classy saison.

Bottle as Passarola Pique-nique Series: Saison shared at the Craft Islington bottle share. Thanks Andre! It pours lightly hazy golden with a thick white head. The aroma is fresh, sweet, bready, banana, cereal, cracker, straw and toasted grain. The taste is crisp, bitter, cereal, straw, peppery spice throughout, banana, hay, earth and some alcohol through the finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Perhaps a touch heavy and spicy. Decent overall, but not as good as the other two saisons in the series.

AROMA: medium fruity notes (slight citrus), floral and slightly peppery from yeast. slight sour note. slightly sweet malty background of an almost neutral character. very faint hops. APPEARANCE: light red color and clear. medium-low head of very light pink color, with medium-low retention. no lacing. TASTE: medium-low to low floral notes with a very faint malty background. slight acidic note. medium to medium-low bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. no fermentation esters perceptible. PALATE: medium-light to light body with medium-high carbonation. slight astringent sensation. OVERALL: an interesting hibiscus saison but without much complexity.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20B). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L0050. AROMA: medium-high roasted malt with coffee and cocoa notes. very faint hop note (resin and citric). slightly sweet malt background. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. low head with medium-low retention of light brown color. slight leg formation. TASTE: medium-high notes of roasted malt, similar to the aroma (coffe/cocoa). slight licorice note and a slight sweet malty background. very faint hop flavor of pine character. Medium-high bitterness with a semi-dry, bitter and roasted finish. PALATE: medium body with medium-low to low carbonation. no astringency and slight alcohol warmth. OVERALL: an america stout with good roasted malt presence but with faint hop character.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 21A). Bottle 75 cl - Batch L0052. AROMA: hop predominant with medium to medium-high notes of grapefruit, mandarine and some pine. malty background, slightly sweet and almost neutral. APPEARANCE: golden color and translucent, with medium head of ivory head and creamy and good retention. TASTE: of hops and similar to the aroma but slightly less complex (pine, some mandarine), of medium-low intensity. malty background, slightly neutral with a faint toffee note. Medium to medium-high bitterness with an almost dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body and slightly creamy. medium carbonation. no hop astringency. OVERALL: an american IPA with all the style chracteristics.

Slight malty and peppery background. APPEARANCE: golden color and hazy. excessive foam, of white color, with medium-low to low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with wild yeast fermentation notes. light cereal hull and yeast flavor. very low malt presence on the background. medium-high bitterness with a dry finish and slightly astringent. PALATE: light body with high carbonation that vanishes quickly. slight astringency and heat sensation. OVERALL: a problematic saison batch that demands re-tasting.

Slight acidic clean touch (lactic-like). Medium-low presence of lacquer/solvent notes. APPEARANCE: golden color and clear. huge white head with medium-low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma, with a dominant yeasty note, some lacquer and a faint orange presence. very faint malty background and slightly sweet. high bitterness and aggressive. dry and very bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body with some alcohol texture. very high carbonation. OVERALL: a saison with some odd and problematic notes. needs re-tasting of another batch.
