Description
A farm brewery in Caledon, Ontario. Troy Baxter, Mike Nuttall and Grace Wilkinson make hoppy, hazy ales in small batches that sell out as fast as they can make them. We specialize in IPA, but we also have a deep affinity for farmhouse ales, crispy lagers and mixed fermentation sours.

We used to brew on a small, inefficient 100ish liter brew house in an old retrofitted calf barn. It was a lot of work, but it's all we could afford to get this thing started without investors. Now we mostly brew on a bigger, sort of more efficient brewery.

Since day one we have believed in the same fundamentals: quality and freshness above all else. Our mission is to get our beer to your mouth when it's at it's best!

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy floral hoppy undertones with some juicy hops notes. Taste is also a mix of juicy citrusy hops notes with some juicy notes, light residual sugar notes and light tropical fruit notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Solid NEIPA with great texture and balance flavors.

A hazed golden DIPA with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, tropical fruit, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity biscuit malt with citrusy floral hops, tropical fruit, alcohol warmth, very nice.

(473ml can from 4th and 7, Toronto) Pours very hazy orangish-gold with a thick white head and some lace. Aroma of candied peach, dried mango, sweet orange, pineapple, citrus zest, some florals, dank edges. Flavour is mid-sweet at best (though sweetenes when warmer), candied orange peels, orange and grapefruit pulp, heavily leafy somewhat dank hop character, peach, red berries and florals in a real Mosaic/Galaxy dominated thing, bready malt core with some cereals, smooth fruity yeast, dry slightly bitter finish of citrus peels, berries and some conifer needles. Medium-bodied, creamy but with slightly higher carb than most Badlands. A nice hop-forward DIPA but not as tasty to me as 2020 version. Some of that may be that the average Badlands canned DIPA improved massively over the last year, but lately I've been thinking that more hop mass is not necessarily better past a certain point.

(473ml can from 4th and 7, Toronto) Pours hazy orange-gold with a small but stable white head and sporty lace. Aroma is overripe melon and papaya, sweet grapefruit, grass, some brioche malt, bit of a boozy twang. Flavour is very ripe papaya, melon mix, pink grapefruit, dry berries, candied citrus peel, bit of bubblegum and banana esters towards the finish, dank piney hits and some grass, malt is very dry and retiring for a TIPA, low to moderate soapy bitterness, slight warming alcohol. Medium bodied for style, slick, fairly soft carbonation. Commendable brewing of a none-too-sweet TIPA backbone but as with other beers in this family I don’t really think much of the hop profile.

(473ml can from 4th and7, Toronto) Pours very cloudy yellow-gold with a thick white head that lingers with heavy lace. Aroma is intensely white grape and gooseberry, some nice melon tones, paler red berries as well, some bright grapefruit-type citrusy overtones, underlying tropical fruit juicy sweetness and fresh wet leafy NZ vibes as expected. Flavour is sweetish white grape and lightly tart gooseberry, softly bittering white grapefruit, melon and soft mango sweetness, nice bready malt feel and clean fruity yeast, semi-dry finish with very low leafy bitterness and just a bit of citrus/melon peel astringency for balance. Light bodied and oily to creamy with soft filling carbonation. Showing all the best of NZ here for me, lovely balance with big flavours and a nice departure away from anything Citra/Mosaic can give you in an IPA. Excellent brewing.

(473ml can from 4th and 7, Toronto) Pours very hazy gold with a thick creamy off-white head with good retention and heavy lace. Aroma of intense and almost tangy mangos with a good hit of that pine-like vibe some have, orange juice, sweetish pineapple, some coniferous hits of Simcoe, pit fruit backdrop. Flavour is creamy mango and peach, soft white grape and gooseberry-like tang from the Nelson, softly bitter orange zest, smooth earthy Simcoe conifers, soft bready cereals and nicely fruity balanced yeast. Dry finish with low bitterness. Medium-plus bodied, softly carbonated, wonderfully creamy mouthfeel even for Badlands. This is not a fresh can but it held up very well and the 3 hops are nicely balanced together on a drinkable frame.
