Almost clear golden with a creamy head. Very strawy, grainy, bready, mellow, malty, some hay, some citrus. Malty grainy sweetness. Medium bodied, chalky texture, soft carbonated, dry grainy strawy finish. A solid Export / Märzen, nothing too exciting.

Bottle served in Steinkrug, Otto's, Deggendorf, Thursday 18th December 2025 after Loz met her friend Chimo at Deggendorf Weihnachts and we had a Glühwein and Eierlikör. Looking down from above, this pours mid gold with a mid sized white head. Soft mouthfeel, I feel like I am picking up a tiny bit of ginger, pleasant maltiness, a little sweetness a very decent beer but not quite hitting the mark for me, would like to try again soon and like it in a glass to appreciate the colour and general appearance. 6.8

0.5l bottle courtesy of Fin & Loz, huge thanks! Clear golden body, white head. Dry aroma, banana, wheaty, bit tart. Light taste, old banana, smooth though, bit of vanilla, lightly grainy lightly wheaty and tart. Meh. Not terrible, but it was really amusing to see it beaten by a Czech mountain village brewery-bakery weissbier, by miles as well!

Bottled, ginormous thanks Fin & Loz! Shared with Raven Fest Folks. Clear coppery body, off-white head. Dried fruit, raisins and caramel in the clean aroma. Caramel, dried fruit, light breadiness, some herbal hoppy touches, bitterish finish. Nice, "just" a very nice doppelbock. Big props to the brewery!

Tap at Zur Knödelwerferin. Cloudy golden. Ripe banana, strong clove. Nice spice, but could actually use more banana, not really that balanced. Sticky aftertaste.

Tap at Zur Knödelwerferin. Clear light golden. Slightly sour nose. Full, chewy, but rather sweet; oily buttery sweet aftertaste. All right.

On tap at Otto Kneipe, Deggendorf, Wednesday 11th December 2024, having a sneaky beer or two as Loz attends her Deutsch course. Pours light/mid amber with a large foamy white head, it looks fabulous, nice lacing on the glass. There is a definite nod towards toffee, banana and a little bit of spice, these also show in the mouth. Re: the spice perhaps I am getting a hint of Christmas spice or maybe the Christmas market in town and busy pub with folk getting excited about Christmas is just making me think that way. It's a very good beer and I really would like another but the Kneitinger is calling me.
