(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a clear, fully golden with a creamy, off-white head. aroma of yeast and alcohol. Fairly full body, sweetish malty with notes of fruit and honey. And then the added wheat provides a base for banana esters - actually this has almost a Weizen Bock character to it. Distinct yeasty flavour while the strong alcohol is well hidden. 070706

75cl bottle from Carrefour, Calais. Now I knowthat beer shouldn’t be drunk with the eye, but I do like a swing top lid to a big 75 of biere de garde. Gold beer with lasting thick white head. Yeasty, citric, hoppy beer with some gorgeous flavours in the mouth. Deep flavours. Bit of smoke even. Fruits are grapefruit and tangerine. There is some goldensyrup too, to the malts. Lovely hop on the end. Biting and sharp. Citrus too. Superb biere de garde. One of my favourites.

75cl bottle from Auchan. Calais. Crystal clear amber colour with lasting beige head. Toffee aroma and mild hop, slightly bleached aroma/flavour. Soft in mouth. Bit of boiled sweet throughout. Candy sugar flavour. Slightly stronger alcohol flavour, bit of whiskey maybe from the malt flavours.

75cl bottle from Auchan, Calais. These beers are being brewed again. I also picked up the Ambree. This is a golden beer with thick creamy head. Some citric hop aroma. Pretty good blond biere de garde. Ticks all the right boxes, full creamy in mouth, hoppy citric finish, bit too sweet in the mouth maybe. Otherwise, very pleasant.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pilsener golden with a small, white head. Chemical aroma with the alcohol shining through. Medium body with sweet malts and most likely beefed up with brewing syrup as well. But extremely alcoholic, way more than what the body can hold. 110606

Sampled at Noogfest. Clear light gold with a quickly fading white head. Fruity, honey aroma. A high level of carbonation makes this one rather spritzy. Some sourness in the finish.

(Bottled) Colour is golden, clear, with a firm white head, lots of lacing. Nose is flowery and spicey with notes of jasmine, lemon peel, ginger, freshly cut grass, traces of yeast and definitely some incense. Taste is fruity with lots of tropical fruit (pineapple, mango) and citrus (lemon, lime). Starts fiery and a bit sweet, becomes drier and finishes with refreshing hints of hops. Medium body, leaning slightly to the light side. Well balanced and tasty.

Bottled. Golden, with a white head. Fruity, lightly bitter nose, with some cellar-notes. Yeasty and bitter flavor with maltiness in the background. Lightly sweet, medium body. A nice, refreshing, sweet beer, but nothing special. Rating: 6-4-6-3-14-3.3. 060430

Bottle, 75cl corked. It’s a clear, copper-colored beer with a dense, creamy, beige head on top. Candy, fruits, caramel and some grains on the nose. Sweet and candyish flavor with some cellar. Grains as well. Medium body with pleasant carbonation. A decent one, quite well-suited for easter-time, but nothing special. 090828
