Bomber sampled @ MEUG 2016. Clear orange with an off-white head. Nose is pure massive fresh onion, dank hops, garlic & onion hops, low white grape hops, but dull & one-note. Taste is basically hop tea, onion, garlic hops, low grapefruit peel hop, dahs yeast, low white grape hop. Massively oily / hop oil body, body & taste lack malts for me in order to balance the whole, okay but really lacking in malt & balance for me but not for hop heads I assume. Not bad overall.

At Meug 2016. Poursclear blonde, smell is pure nelson sauvin. Taste is stonefruit ( by nelson sauvin-hop) at first, but quite bitter in the back. Don’t get to much of the other hops, but the nelson - specific-taste is not an overkill, as it sometimes can be.

Pint at the brewery - clear gold - heavy use of the Citra here makes for a very tangy and citric IPA, but the Amarillo bring a little sprouted garlic I don’t like so much - clean malt character, with medium body and low carbonation - tastes very much like their Citra IPA with a little Amarillo and Centennial thrown in, which is fine by me.

Tulip at the brewery - supposedly unfiltered, but it pours relatively clear gold with a soapy head - nose has grassy notes of the hallertau blanc and the white grape character of the Nelson hops - some herbal notes and pepper - clean malt sweetness, not undue heft or stickiness - things start out mildly sweet and fruity, followed by intense but not overpowering bitterness, grass, strong white pepper spiciness - clean finish, with lingering bitterness and well-marked alcohol.

Can - I’ve had so much of this without realizing it was a separate entry - I enjoy this one - it’s got a strong, earthy spiciness to it, finishing quite peppery - there is a sharpness to it that is not present in the earlier Citra version, so it isn’t as balanced, but it has the brewer’s signature clean malt character - still a very enjoyable IPA.

Can thnk tanks to Adam. Pours a hazy orange with small frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is mango, dank, pine. Medium mouth, juicy hop, mango, tangerine, light bitterness, resin finish, very nice.

Can - pours a very clear light gold - fairly dank and resinous nose, with some berry notes, pepper, herbs, maybe some unwelcome cattiness - light bodied, clean and simple malt structure - some melon rind, citrus, mint, leading to a high bitterness and strongly spicy finish - maybe a little watery on the tail end - it’s good, but not up to the quality of a lot of their other single hop IPAs.

Tulip at the brewery - turbid Amber - moderate lace - nose of blackberry, raspberry, moderate acidity, undertones of chocolate - flavor is bursting with tart berry (blueberry, blackberry, raspberry), chocolate, soft herbs - finish has prickly acidity and black tea - frothy texture - excellent!

Tulip at the brewery - clear golden with a fairly thick, soapy lace - clean sweetness in the nose, giving the complex hop profile room to shine (herbs, grass, mango, citrus) - wheat and pils malt make for a soft body and clean, simple, enjoyable malt structure/flavor - herbs, grass, mint, resin, citrus - a bit tropical in the finish - clean, bitter without being abrasive - well done and dangerously easy to drink - sadly, as it warms, it becomes quite hot/boozy, which significantly diminishes the enjoyment.

Pint at the brewery - they changed the malt bill and hops for this version and it really is quite different - unfortunately, it is not as good - malts are distinctly less crisp, a bit more bready - there is a tangy and almost prickly acidity through the middle - finish is kind of flat and water - finishing hop flavor and bitterness salvages it somewhat, with some pepper and tropical fruit - but overall this is weak compared to the first version.
