Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.
We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Can. A bit hazy golden. Starts quite malty with toffee and bread crust. Grassy hops, citrus zest, light berries, orange blossom, bitter unripe fruit. Just medium sweet and bitter.edium bodied. Not really New England style, but it's a nice pale ale. I'm really enjoying the recent new beers from Kaapse and this is another one that's right up my alley.

Small white head, soon reduced to rim over well-carbonated, fully veiled ochre-golden beer. Hops, but also mold, earthy, moss, even a bit rot. Citruspeel. Bitter, chalk, dusty, decaying wood & vegetables, algae. Hopbitterness. Burnt omelette. Well-carbonated, quite slick/oily; medium bodied at best. Not very inviting, in fact. More than a bit weird.

Can. Almost clear golden. Crisp malts, light yeast, doughy, orange zest, light grassy, blueberries, pineapple, bitter green leafy hops. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with crisp finish. I like it!

From tap at Bierlokaal De Uiver, Haarlem. Rich dark malt with cognac, syrupy notes, oak, red and dark fruits, some alcohol, chocolate. Strong flavour, booze, potent beer. Has plenty going on, strong!

Aroma of malt, caramel, ripe fruits, dried apricot, some grapefruit, hops. Flavour is malty caramel, rather sweet but not disturbingly so, with a bittersweet finish. Body is nice and thick, full mouthfeel. Though the sweetness was right there on the edge for me, I enjoyed this one.
