Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

Draught at Mukilteo Lodge
Hazy amber color with compact head. The hopping is quite fruity (aroma), the malt flavor is lean, the final is bitter, with some resins and not enough fruits. Tastes old.
Nice but simple.

Draught at Collective on Tap, Woodinville, WA
Dark brown color with compact head. Dark caramel, but with a dusty character, some roasted nuts, some old coffee; ordinary bitterness; the mouthfeel is rather dry.
Nothing special.

Draught at Collective on Tap, Woodinville, WA, listed as Bird Seeker at the bar, 4.5% ABV
Hazy golden color with compact head. American Pale Ale with a strange feeling of buttery cookies and cereals; herbaceous hopping.
Not fully convincing.

Generic tulip on draft at Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle. Dark ruby colored brew. Aroma is slightly candy and earthy as I would expect for a strong scotch ale. Some general booze off the scotch but works fine enough for the style. Leafy malt earthiness with some booze and a non sugar candy character. Flavor is surprisingly not over the top. Alcohol is light with a clean medium bodied with a slightly slick feeling. Again, earthy caramel sweet without sugar. So, strong but not too much, very appropriate to style, clean... what more to ask for. Its a bit too clean for the style but otherwise real good.

On tap at Black Raven, pours a cloudy dull orangey yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out caramel malt and paint thinner. Flavour is thankfully better, with caramel malt, brown sugar, and apple juice. Quite boozy and barrel-heavy, with a woody alcoholic finish. Good beer in small amounts.

On tap at Black Raven, pours a clear dull amber with a small beige head. Aroma reveals big notes of bourbon upfront, with lots of booze and vanilla in there as well. Flavour is a huge vanilla and bourbon bomb, with a big alcohol kick well. I can see how this would be difficult to drink in large quantities, but in this smaller sample, this is a delightful sipper. A nice huge bourbon bomb.

On tap at Black Raven, pours a clear dull amber with a small beige head. Aroma reveals notes of dry caramely bready malt. Flavour is caramely and bready malt-heavy, with a little syrupy quality without being cloying. Decent attempt.

On tap at Black Raven, pours a clear faded blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out metallic hops and toasted crackery malt. Flavour is very mineraly, with herbal hops and toasted crackery malt. A little off, with a herbal, metallic finish. Decent but not so good.
