My second beer at the breweries ESB location on 18th Jan 2013. Looked like a lager/pilsner: tasted like a lager/pilsner. Bright, clean and clear body of golden liquid, on top a thin snow white head. No smell worthy of mention: gets an average score like most lagers. Dry more than sweet, grainy more than hoppy. Nothing wrong with it: but could have been any number of lagers/pilsners from anywhere in the world.

Taken at the ESB location on 18th Jan 2013: God it was cold outside! Inside it was warm and welcoming. The beer is pale yellow, almost golden, the bright winter sun giving it a true shine as it burst through the window. A white, thin head sat on top. Citrus lead in the nose and taste: more grapefruit and lemon than orange. Body wise it was OK, could have done with a bit more depth maybe. My first beer in New York (they got better).

Tap at brewpub after work. Pours dark ruby with thin head. Nose of caramel and brandy. Tastes boozy and way sweet. U get caramel and some spices, along with plums, cherry, cough syrup, and alcohol warming. Oily on palate.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick growler ($9): Pours is light amber with a white head. Aroma is caramel malt with smoky meat. Taste is pretty smoky with a nice sugary, almost candy-like undertone. The smokiness is pretty light. Not too complex, but pretty drinkable. Not bad for Kelso.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick growler ($13): Pours amber golden with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is vinegary wine, whiskey, yeast, slight frutiness. Tastes a bit like whiskey, but without a lot of the force to it. Has a lightly sour taste, with the barrel aged taste sitting in the background throughout. Nice malty backbone. This isn’t exactly the best balanced beer in the world, but it is kind of unique and interesting to say the least.

Drought. Amber red color, off-white small whitish head, strong resin aroma, sharp hoppy taste, long finish. Unbelievably smooth for a barley wine.
