Draught at Brewtopia ’04 Hazy reddish - orange color. Musty malt aroma. The flavor is better than the aroma providing some malt and spiciness to the palate. Needs more caramel sweetness to round this out some more. Average.

Muddy dark tan - as ugly as any barley wine. Aroma is spicy, mapley, crackerlike. Very medicinal taste - sprucy. Lots of malt, alcohol is subtle. Sweet and medicinal thoughout. Interesting, but I didn’t see what the fuss was about (several people had told me I needed to try it).

draught at brewtopia - seems like this has been aged a bit - cloudy and low in carbonation - quite rich and full-bodied - toffee, caramel, oats - a bit toasty almost - a bit of hops with a medium alcohol burn.

I guess the name is a play on "buckwheat," because the board at the brewery said this beer was "A-Otay" - aside from the quasi-racist name, this beer was pretty decent - a medium bodied wiezen bock, with lots of caramel and chocolate flavors - an uncharacteristic level of hop bitterness creaps in that just doesn't seem to belong, and nearly ruins the beer - otherwise an enjoyable drink.

The color of stained wood, tiny, brownish head - aroma of, yup, peanuts, but something smells artificial about it - tastes like peanut butter and chocolate, but the body isn't full enough to compliment those flavors well - if they make this beer a bit "chewier" then it would be quite good, for now it's a decent brown ale, nothing stand out.

Dark cherry cola appearance, little to no head. Smells of red fruits, raspberry jam meets crystal malt, though quite drier than that sounds. Opens up with a spritzy/fruity sweetness. typical crystal malt papery/dry finish, with some almost metallic tones. Still, the hops are there and the malt tastes quite good for most of the beer. Body stands up and is medium. As it warms and breathes texture becomes creamy. Theres something good about this beer that dosent translate well to ratings.

Mostly clear bright orange with some red tinges. Small white head and decent lacing. Aroma is citrus and more citrus. Big citrus body with a mild malt finish that just sneaks in before being driven out by more bittering hops. Oranges, lemons, lots of grapefruit. It’s all there, but it’s just nothing exciting. Decent medium body. Moderately carbonated, soft fluffy mouthfeel.

If this is a pale ale, I wouldnt have guessed. All the makings of an American Light. No flavor, watery to the extreme. Has some sweet malt on the finish, there's something in there, if it's coriander, you cant really tell. It is lost in the watery death of a finish.

Pours a moderately cloudy yellow, very wavy with some lighter whites and slighter darker copper hues. Small to no white head. Lightly citrusy and doughy aroma. Very light body with little flavor ending in a better finish with tons of raw wheat flavor, quite chewy. Some yeast and a touch of lemon. Mildly sweet. Good finish, but that’s about it.

December 2003, 10%ABV version. Hazy peachy gold color with some light pink-copper tones. Huge lacing and small white head. Aroma of band aids, band aids, more band aids, and some Northwest hops. Huge amount of alcohol appearance, way too much so. Flavor is very one-sided, bitter hops and a dry english toffee. It's like one long bitter/dry flavor note with absolutely no complexity. If you are going to make a Pac NW hops barleywine (a la bigfoot) throw in a lot more sweet malt and toss in some more hops variation.
