(10/22/08) Draught sample at the brewpub at Empire State Building, New York. Clear deep golden color. Aroma of malt, some hops, lots of diacetyl and fruity hints. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, some buttery notes a rather bitter hoppy finish.A creamy nitro mouthfeel I’m really not fond of. Maybe just a bad batch, but they served it.

A hazy orange amber barley wine, with a thin white head. A plesant hopey aroma, nice and intense, with light vinous notes, restrained dark fruits. In mouth, a very nice example of the genre, very hoppy, like I like them, with strong grapefruit melding well with the sweet vinous malt, like a baked honey grapefruit (delicious at breakfast). Tasted at the Spuyten Duyvil, Nov. 2006.

A dark brown stout with reddish hues, with a thin white head. The aroma of this beer is wonderful, with caramel, black coffee and Nutella. A good ethiopian coffee bean best describes it. In mout, a bit disapointing, but still good, a rather sweet caramelly stout, with good coffee notes. Tasted at the Union Square location, Nov. 2006.
