Sampled at Empire State building location Dec 05. Amber coloured, not as bitter as I was expecting tasted absolutely fine, might have had another were it not for the rather exorbitant cost in this place.

5.1/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 4 Flavor 5 Texture 6 Overall 5.5
Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Reddish-amber pour with a minimal beige head and nil lacing. Weak malt aroma is difficult to detect. Light-bodied with a somewhat bland malt and nut flavor. The finish is clean and fairly sweet and lasting, mostly malt but with a touch of hops. Not sure what the goal is with this beer as it’s not as good as their Lager or Amber.

Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Pours black with a medium thin and foamy beige head. Sticky, spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee and mild malt. Sweet and creamy with malt, espresso and caramel flavors. The finish is also smooth and very flavorful, espresso and hops. I wouldn’t call this a medal-winner but it’s a fairly good Stout.

6.4/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 6 Texture 6 Overall 6.5
Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Clear amber color with a medium ivory head and good retention. Thin sheets of lacing. The aroma is floral and hoppy, with a bit of citrus too. Medium-bodied and dry with a nice bitter character that unfortunately falls off very quickly. Flavors of citrusy hops, grain and malt. The finish is lingering with lightly bitter hops and citrus. Aside from being a little off-kilter it’s pretty decent.

6.6/10 Appearance 6 Aroma 7 Flavor 6 Texture 8 Overall 6.5
Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Dark amber with a compact off-white head and thin rings of lace. Malty nose, with some nuts too. The mouthfeel is smooth (almost flat) and sweet, with malt, nut and caramel flavor. The finish retains the sweetness, along with some hops in the background. This seems like their flagship beer and it is a decent session brew.

Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Served with a lemon. Hazy golden orange color with a medium thin and dense bone white head . Thin, spotty lacing. Malty, bready aroma. Light-bodied and smooth with malt, wheat and light hops flavors. The finish is clean and fairly bitter. Pretty basic but well-made.

5.1/10 Appearance 4 Aroma 5 Flavor 5 Texture 6 Overall 5.5
Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thin white head with little retention, and very little lacing. Mild aroma of malt, hops and corn. Light-bodied and bubbly with mildly sweet malt and corn flavors. The finish is where the hops come through a little more, and the aftertaste is clean and lightly bitter. Not a bad Lager.

On tap at 51st and 6th Ave, NYC. This is an enjoyable oatmeal stout. Smooth and creamy palate. Inviting pour — dark brown with foamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts with hints of coffee and molasses. Flavor was sweet with notes of smoke and roasted malts. Slightly bitter in the aftertaste with a hint of licorice. Easy drinking, nicely done.

Tap at 51st and 6th Ave., NYC. Tasty enough though nothing to distinguish itself — either good or bad — from all the other IPAs other than it’s named Indiana PA in a city that is unlike anything in Indiana. Mild citrus aroma. The flavor leans toward the sweet side with notes of citrus — grapefruit and orange. Mildly hopped with light body and dry finish.

Had this at the South Street Seaport location, and the cramped environment detracted from my enjoyment - not that the beer was that good anyway - a respectable attempt at the style, but its thin body, limited malt presence, and overly bitter finish made it one I will not try again.
