Black color. Aroma of roasted malt. Good body, malty, creamy, with good roasted malt and caramel, lightly cheesy. Quite strong bitterness.

Dark amber color with red hue. Some caramel aroma. Medium body, a lot of dark caramel taste, maybe too much ending bitterness from the roasted malts.

Beautiful amber color; creamy head. Light hoppy aroma. Reasonable malty body, with a strong hopping, with some resins. Long and strong final, with a lot of sweet caramel and some toffee. Not exceptional but enjoyable.

On tap. It came with a deep copper color and nice tan head. The aroma was light. What I could smell was fruity-maltiness with a hint of spice presumably from the yeast. The flavor seemed a little light for a true Barleywine. There was sweet caramel maltiness that gave way to a little plum and date type fruit flavor. Nice light weight beer for the style.

On tap. Clear copper color with thin head. Mild aroma of citrus hops. Nice tasting old school style IPA like Samuel Smith’s rendition. Might be a solid Pale today. So as a Pale it has a nice citrus-grapefruit bitterness, sweet caramel malts and a bit of the grain malt flavor. Nice tasting Pale with no flavor faults that I could detect.

Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Straw-colored and clear with tiny bubbles and a thin white head that leaves quickly. Nil lacing. Aroma of citrus and coriander. Rather thin body, with zesty orange flavor and some spice and malt. The flavors don’t intermingle very well though. The finish is spicy and lightly bitter, but watery. All in all below average.

Sample at the Heartland Chophouse: Pours black with a thin dark beige head that lasts pretty well. Small amount of lacing. Aroma of cherries, dark fruit and malt. Full-bodied with a nice roasty character. Flavors of malt, sweet spices and of course cherry. The finish is sweet and fruity with some malt and chocolate in the background. On one hand this is kind of scattered, but I like what they are doing with it.
