Union Square location, part of sampler: Hands down the best beer I have had from Heartland. Dark brown color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and all that delicious stuff. Body is really smooth and creamy, if not a little light for the style. In any case, the same roasted malts flavors and coffee and chocolate were present in the taste. Quite good. Would have liked to have got more of this one and less of the other ones.

Heartland, Union Square pint ($7): Pours an light amber color with a white head. Aroma is of hops and all that. Really spicy taste makes it feel like of strange for an IPA. There is an ok amount of hops... nothing special. Malt backbone is thin. Not that great. Weird aftertaste. I was expecting a little better... and as other people have noted, this is far too expensive especially since there is no middleman.

Heartland, Union Square sample: Pours a copperish color with minimal head. Aroma is kind of macro oriented, so is the taste. Corn is really prevalent and unlike most of the other crap beers in the world, this one proudly proclaims its origins. I mean it is drinkable, but i feel like I am drinking Pabst.

Tap at Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival in NYC. Decent IPA. Pours amber with a white head. Hoppy aroma with citrus and earth. Flavor has some caramel sweetness with grapefruit hops. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Finishes resiny with some lingering bitterness.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Clear reddish brown, no head. Heavily buttery nose. Sweet with clean, hard mouthfeel. Unpleasantly buttery with some tart cranberries on a distance. Dreadful.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Clear golden, small head. Aroma of hay and sweay orange. The saaz hops are extremele evident. the clean, hard mouthfeel seperates it distinctly frm Czech craft beers.. Long bitterness. Lovely hops, too simple malt.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Near black, small head. Aroma and flavour of chocolate and oatmeal porridge. Sweet with medium body and soft mouthfeel. Coffee joins in in the salty finish. A surprisingly tasty stout and a complete change of pace from the rest of the Heartland lineup.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Mahogany colour, small head. Heavy caramel aroma. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Fudge and caramel dominate completely, making it a one-dimensional one flavour beer. Slight salty bitterness. At least this one flavour is a fairly pleasant one.

Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Clear amber, small head. Salty grapefruity hops dominates. Roastiness combines with citric hops to licorice. Solid bodied with plenty of hops and really bitte finish. Typical brewpub IPA - which is a good thing.
