Description
Sea Cider is a farm-based cidery located on the Saanich Peninsula just minutes from Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Our ten-acre farm is home to over 1,300 apple trees, made up of over 50 varieties of heritage apples.

Sea Cider opened its farm gate for business in 2007 when owner Kristen Jordan purchased the property with a vision of creating an organic farm and orchard and producing traditional fermented artisan ciders. Since then, we’ve grown to an annual cider production of over 7,000 cases and growing. We continue to pride ourselves on crafting traditionally fermented ciders from organically grown apples, and our award-winning cider is now available throughout B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, Washington State, Illinois, and Oregon.

500ml bottle from CapFlu, thanks Todd. Nose of fresh tart green apples, very fresh and moderately tart smelling. Pale yellow with a small head of clear bubbles, the head dissipating quickly, but bubbles lingering on the glass sides and slowly releasing with more forming. Flavor is very tart with a moderate green apple flavor along with some apricots and a bit of background sweetness. A very tiny hint of sweetness lingers with some tartness for a finish. This is one even the sour beer boys might even like!

750 ml bottle from CapFlu, Thanks Todd. I assume it is the 2006 since the bottle says 11%ABV. Nose of rum, tartness, and contrastingly mildly sweet apples, to go with the oak, very green appley to my nose. Clear darker yellow gold with some floating bubbles from the carbonation. Flavor is rummy, mild woodiness, moderate tartness, and slightly sweetness of the apples. Finishes slightly tart. This would be a favorite usual drink if I could get it. If I get up to Victoria soon I may need to buy a case to take home.

Throwdown. Cheeseman’s surprise. Bright clear gold. Potent apple aroma. A touch floral. Pleasing sweet soft apple flavors, with a touch of light rum. Sweet, candyish almost but in a good way, a real good way. Medium bodied. Yes!

Bottle. Sweet spicy honey, apples on straw aroma. Deep golden, leaving a film with legs on the glass. Sweet fermenting apple, a hint stable, brandyish notes - refined and warming.

Brewery Creek
Light yellow/straw colour. Still. Appley nose with slight apricot and mellow floral honey notes. Very dry...puckering apple flavour with light tannin. Clean tartness is almost lactic, though certainly not as complex as I’m used to in beers this sour. Obviously they achieved their objective, but I’m not sold on this as a standalone drink. It gets more enjoyable as it warms but IMO it needs some sort of bloomy rind or chevre to provide a foil for the acidic assault. Not unlike Tantalus Old Vine Reisling, this is clearly meant to accompany food, so a bit of a tactical error on my part taking it on its own.

Light yellow. Quite fizzy. Big aroma - lots of apple and lots of nuance. I actually do get the marzipan and apricot, also canteloupe, muscovado and spicy accents. Sweetish flavour, some white sugar and fresh apple. A slight leather and brown sugar accent both softens the finish and adds complexity.
