Cask. Ambr colour, small offwhite head. Aroma is grass, yeast and some mild fruits. Flavour is fruits, grass and some wood. Rather standard bitter.

Cask at The Metropole, JDW, Baker Street, Lahndan tahn 29-07-08 Pours light amber with thin white head. Decent fruity bitter that comes across as a really good session beer, nice bitterness that stays and ending with a dry finish. There’s a lot to like in this for 3.8% beer, wish I’d have had a pint and didn’t have a train to catch.

Cask handpull at The Fox, Twickenham. Gold, lasting thin beige head. Lovely citrusy hoppy aroma. Very refreshing, like a souped up JHB. Tangerine etc on flavour, pink grapefruit. Cracking pint, very good condition and just so drinkable

Cask gravity at Ealing Beer Festival 2008. Gold, thin bubbly off white head. Little bit of sulphur on aroma, but the malts are good. It’s actually a really satisfying best bitter. Good fullness. Nice bitterness which lasts on the finish.

Cask gravity at Ealing Beer Festival 2008. Clear copper, thin off white head. It’s a pretty standard bitter. Some drinkability, some citrus. Just a little empty on the malts. Some yeastiness.

Draught. Dark black red. Little aroma, mainly dark / burnt malt. Medium body with light carbonation. Flavour of dark malt, bitter. Not really to my taste.

Cask-conditioned at the Edgar Wallace, London WC2. Amber/red colour with a moderate white head. Caramel, red fruit and earthy hop aroma. Flavour had plenty of fruit before a slightly conflicting citrus dry finish. Good.

Cask at the Plough and Harrow (JDW), Hammersmith. Gold with a thin white head; grapefruit aroma; smooth with grapefruit and other citrus flavours; tart and deeply bitter finish. Really good.
