12 oz. can, 6.2% ABV, CANNED ON: 11/15/22

AROMA: I'm first hit with strong scents of peanut butter, moderate scents of chocolate, and lastly, mild scents of coffee . The aroma is very inviting and makes me want to dive right in!

It should be noted that I have also tried the brewer's Sweet Baby Jesus! beer. In comparison, I find that this beer (Sweet Baby Java) has much stronger scents of peanut butter.

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a medium-tall, dirty tan head, that dissipates slowly and has moderate lacing. This is your classic porter look.

TASTE: Moderately sweet with predominant flavors of peanut butter and chocolate, with a touch of coffee on the backend. I find the sweetness level to be perfect for this type of beer. It really helps to play up the peanut butter flavor, yet there's enough bitterness to remind you that you're drinking a beer and not a soft drink.

MOUTHFEEL: Full bodied with a somewhat creamy texture, and average carbonation. The mouthfeel is definitely heavenly!

OVERALL: The aroma, flavor, and texture are all outstanding! However, for a beer with "Java" in its name, I was expecting the coffee flavor to be a bit more prominent. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to hunt for the coffee, but you do have to wait for the stronger flavors to abate a bit before you can taste it. And while I "think" I would like more coffee flavor, I'm pretty sure if it were increased it would throw off the otherwise, quite delicious flavor profile. So I will keep my mouth shut. Well, not completely shut, because I have another one chillin' in the fridge just begging to be consumed. :)

16 oz can from Wegmans. Canned on May 10th 2023. No glitter visible in that first pour, even though I did swirl the can and invert it as suggested. Instead I get a slightly hazy golden color under a very thick head. The nose is pretty thin at first, just a light tart beer impression. I poured a little bit of the beer back into the can and gave it a good shake, which finally poured out some light swirls of lighter colored beer, more like a paperweight filled with sand, in which I could see particles of tiny bits of glitter. The taste now seems like sour cherry candy and citrus. In fact, as I try to shake out the last bit of glitter, the tart lemon taste gets stronger. I certainly could not capture the swirl of a lighter glittery yellow beer color in the glass with my phone camera, and not having tried a glitter drink before, I don't know if that is the best I can expect. Still, it does go down nicely as a lemony sour beer might, so the only fault is in the presentation.

Not as sweet as expected, which makes for a pretty good pint, actually. Bright tropical notes mix with a potent citrus tang and touches of vanilla, with hints of chives and stonefruit underneath. Not bad.

This beer has an aroma of pears and malt with some vanilla. The flavor is malty and lightly tart with fairly good pear flavor. It’s alright though to me it doesn’t stand out.

Black colour, large tan head. Bold coffee aroma. Smooth, moderately sweet, with bold coffee kick, almost spicy, and a touch of cream.
Good, nothing too complex.
