A black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet and again with roasted malt being most dominant, but it also has notes of chocolate.

An unclear light yellow beer with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet with strong citrus and wheat notes. The flavor is sweet wheaty and very spicy, combined with notes of coriander and lemon. There is nothing wrong with this beer - it is jus average.

Deep dark pour that produces a thick black body over a head that resembles a chocolate thickshake. Nice roasty warm chocolate aroma. Dark chocolate and roast malt bitterness towards the end. Smooth full palate.

An orange beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is malty with slight notes of honey. The flavor contains notes of honey and flowers, leading to a dry end.

2005 bottle at the Iguana Cafe in Montreal, 6/5/05 with Muzzlehatch and tiggmtl. Pour is a caramelly-auburn, dark beige tints on the sides, with a small off-white head that sits at cover, providing little to no lacing. Aroma has hazelnuts, toasted grains and light orange rind. Also some dry, plasticy/stale bread notes, slightly sourish. Flavor begins with a sweet caramel malt, hints of dry raisins and cherries from the yeast. Bits of astringency from the toasted grains. Problems include a stale bread flavor, hints of syrupy sugar and a body that is too light and carbonation too peppery to sustain much interest from yours truly.

2005 bottle at the Iguana Cafe in Montreal, 6/5/05 with Tiggmtl and Muzzlehatch, served chilled in a pilsener glass. Soft, straw and blonde-golden colored ale, moderate amount of white head recedes slowly to cover, with no lacing. Aroma of two-row barley, light grass and cornbread, a bit of doughiness and perhaps some mineral water. Flavor has light low quality/cereal graininess notes at first, but picks up a touch of light hay and earthy barley notes, albeit light. A light honey-vanilla note is particularly pleasing. Easy to compare to McAuslan Griffon Blonde, but it is no competitor, as the Griffon has far more real malt flavor, more hops flavor and a more crisp yeast and hops finish. Still, this isn’t a bad beer by any means, maybe a touch too dry and bready, but the carbonation, which I know must be forced, is low and not horribly disruptive on the palate. Light grassiness is apparent, somewhat as it warms. Medium-light body, not terribly watery as it breathes and warms either. 5/3/7/3/13

Aug 2006 Draught at Cucina, Montreal. Wow. Like a whole different beer on draught. Wonderful, lightly juicy, yet crisp and aromatic hops overlace a soft pils malt backing. Crisp, light, clean yeast. Soft, easygoing, but ample quantities of carbonation distribute the honey and hop notes evenly. A slight waxiness is about the only off-flavor I find. Some nectarins, apricots and peaches add complexity. One of the better blondes I’ve had recently. Minimal wateriness. No alcohol. Medium aroma strength. Decently retained, white head and lots of it. 7/4/8/4/16

A Belgian???? Hardly !!! Sure is a lot like an amber to me. Amber with beige head. Light carmel malt nose. Malt profile with a few finishing hops

Black with rocky brown head.The roasted nose is slightly metallic.Slightly tinney medium roasted flavor. Average lace

Bottle: Poured a white yellow ale with a thin white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma is dominated by ginger, which is a bit surprising for a witbier. Taste is also dominated by ginger thought I can still taste the wheat and some subtle coriander. Very refreshing beer that I will appreciate better comes summer. Probably doesn’t respect the style limitation of a witbier but still enjoy this quite a lot.

Sampled draught at La Milsa, Montréal Golden colour, small head. Medium sweet with restrained fruitiness and some vanilla. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. A decent thirst quencher.
