Tap at Max’s, Baltimore - pours like a hefe - turbid gold - foamy, lasting head - nose is lightly sour, lightly phenolic, lightly earthy, with a hint of smoke - quite tart and mildly acidic on the approach - this is followed by some mildly sweet wheat malt, moderate earthy smoke - finish is lightly bitter, with a healthy dose of phenols of the more earthy and funky variety - interesting brew - would like mor smoke.

Bottle. Fruity white grape and lemon aroma. Pale yellow with a large white head. Tart lemon flavor. Light body, lively carbonation, dry finish. After rating it straight, I finished it off by adding the traditional sweet woodruff syrup, which was interesting, and did help tone down the tartness,

500 ml bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 2 finger fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some ok lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, herbal, toasted grain, bread, citrus peel, light smoke, and earthy spiciness. Some nice and balanced aromas with decent strength. Taste of lemon, orange peel, herbal, toasted grain, bread, wheat, floral, pear, and earthy spiciness. Lingering notes of lightly tart citrus, herbal, bread, toast, and earthy spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of malt flavors with the earthy spiciness; tartness is quite subtle overall. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a slightly slick and extremely smooth mouthfeel. Extremely easy to drink; with no alcohol presence as expected of 4%. Overall this is a really nice traditional style ale! Nice flavor balance and complexity; and extremely smooth. I really enjoyed this one.

500 ml bottle into imperial pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly cloudy golden straw color with a 1 finger foamy white head with poor retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. No glass lacing, and a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big tart lemon, apple, pear, grape, grass, hay, cherry, and yeast spices. Fantastic aromas here, with good acidity and balance. Smells a lot like a dry cider. Taste of tart apple, pear, grape, lemon, pepper, grass, hay, yeast spices, and slight funk. Fairly dry on the finish; but there are some lingering notes of apple, pear, hay, grass, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Great balance of flavors with a nice tart/sweet balance. Medium-high carbonation and fairly light bodied; with an extremely smooth and crisp mouthfeel. Alcohol is completely hidden at 5%, with no warming present at all as expected. Overall this is a fantastic Berliner weissbier. Fantastic flavor balance, with a nice amount of flavors. Very drinkable and highly enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a hint of an orange hue and a white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has a good amount of acid with sour lemons, a bit of funk and a hint of backing sweet wheat. Flavor is quite tart with lemon backed by a good amount of acid and a hint of wheat to cut the tartness. Drinkable.
