This beer is a hazy yellowish color with noticeable sediment and a medium white head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Spiced aroma with notes of ginger primarily, along with fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of sweet spices, malt and yeast. Potpourri finish with a lingering herbal aftertaste. Different for sure, but wears you down after a couple sips.

Nice Berliner Weisse, not extremely tart but pleasant enough, and very, very carbonated. Granted, I don’t know a whole lot about the style, so maybe rocket-like carbonation is the norm. Whatever the case may be, this beer’s initial appearance is awe inspiring, if short-lived, as the head implodes almost as quickly as it expands. 1809 smells much tarter than it is; the taste starts with a quick citric sour swipe, but soon fades into a lemon-tinged wheat ale. The hops are nonexistent, but who cares, really, because this beer’s all about the tart. And, to a mild extent, it succeeds. Why aren’t there more Berliner Weisses out there? This style makes for much more interesting summer drinking than most of the bland hot-weather fare.

Bottle. Light, see through yellow. Lots of fizz. Head went large, then died to nothing in a matter of 2 seconds. A ton of carbonation, lots of floating sediment and strange looking particles in it. Aroma of Zesty lemons and wheat. If you smell it after ti warms a bit, can can detect apples as well. Nice medium sour flavor, with wheat and lemons. A bit more tart when warm. Very light and refreshing brew. A tuff style to find. Not sure why more brewers don’t try this style?? This is my second of the style and I like it.

Location: 500 ml bottle from Hoboken Vine 1/12/11
Aroma: The nose has a lot of tart citric notes and some yeast/wheat
Appearance: This one pours a clear gold color with a bright white fizzy head a top it
Flavor: The taste is tart and citrusy, some sweetness balances out the tart
Palate: The mouthfeel is fairly fizzy, this beer is fairly easy drinking and fairly light
Overall Impression: I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get to enter a rating on 1/11/11, that is a cool date. Anyway, that was irrelevant to this rating, but it is my rating, so I can write completely irrelevant information in there if I want. Moving along to the beer, I liked it. It is a fairly decent Berliner with some hefe-like characteristics as well. Solid stuff. Not my favorite style out there, but this one works pretty well.

Pours cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Sweet, lemony herbal aroma. Flavor that follows the aroma with a bit of tartness. Thin. Very nice Gruit. This could also pass for a Witbier.

Pours hazy golden color with white head. Aromas of licorice and pepper with some other spices. Tastes like flowers and perfume. Strange. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Interesting to try, but I wouldn’t seek it out again.

Very crisp, very clean, very tight carbonation, and a style I would say is very near to a Krystallweizen. This one poured a bright yellow without the typical wheat cloudiness of a weizen. Not a large aroma or bouquet but a little to let you know what the flavor is going to be like. The taste is of a typical weizen with a very distinct pear or apple flavor. Almost champagne-like carbonation and a steady bright white head that lasted the entire glass. This is one that would probably be great on a scaldering hot summer day, or as a refresher after the beach, but not one that i could have all day, the aroma and flavor would get to me after a few.
