Tap at the brewery - quite full-bodied for a hefe - big time wheat malt presence in this one, and some light citrus and mild sweetness - quite hoppy for the style, making it seem like a hefe/pale ale hybrid - pretty nice.

Growler provided by notalush @ Heavyweight Open House, thanks Brandon. Pours black with some lacing. Aroma is extremely sour with some hints of cherry. Taste is weak.. here my notes become illegible. But its too sour for an Imperial Stout. I do like the intiative Blue Point is taking making new and creative styles. I hope they keep tweaking this one b/c fruit and Imp Stout can be a good mix, IMO. 6/4/6/3/11

I have had the last years stuff and this years stuff, which I believe is bottled for the first time. It is a bit different than before and the abv on the bottle says 4.6 now. The beer pours a beautiful dark rose color. I really like this hue, and i am giving it my highest appearance rating for any completely lucid beer. The aroma is great, as everyoine says blueberry on the button. But its also a fresh natural blueberry aroma. And there is just a hint of maltiness in the background. The taste is also blueberry strong but not like a juice. Still definitly a beer just with lots of blueberrys. The mouthfeel was the only aspect I did not enjoy. Fizzy, thin body. Bought a 6-pack on whiim but will get another one soon.

2006 bottle on 5/20/06. Actually retained head just shows fresheness as this is filtered and artificially carbonated. Fades to ring quickly, zero lacing, and a clear straw-golden body. Hoppy nose has straw, dill, oregano and light barley hints. The flavor is wet vanilla and light honey atop chewy grahahm crackers. Rather dulled by some water and leafiness, but quite clean in the yeast and alcohol department. Filtered and unadventurous can only get you so far.

Tap at the brewery - it does my heart good to see this brewery branching out and doing new and interesting things - this one is actually quite similar to their "regular" imperial stout (lots of smoked malt flavor and a background hop profile that accentuates the roasted qualities of the beer), but, unlike lots of fruit-flavored stouts, the cherry is very subtle and doesn’t overpower the beer - the body gets a bit thin near the finish, allowing the alcohol content to show through, but otherwise this is solid.

Cask at the brewery - I was sceptical about this brew (a bourbon aged esb sounds like a bad idea), but it turned out to be pretty decent - sadly, the nice hop bite and bready malt of the original are nearly gone, though - the overall impression is of a creamy, almost oak-flavored english pale ale - the bourbon flavor got a little out of hand at times, but in spite of my complaints, I really did enjoy drinking it.

2005 vintage, Tap at the Blue Point tasting room. One of the clearer, more translucent barley wines I have ever seen. Golden yellow color, smell is indistinguishable. Taste is bitter, thin body for a barley wine. Hoped for more but was disappointed.
This beer was probably infected as we tasted it Blind @ Cornboy’s 2nd Annual BW tasting. 2003 bottle, It has a weird graininess and a weird fruitiness. But together its rather nice. Its thick and dark with flavors of orange and smoke. 8/4/7/3/16.

Cask at the brewery tasting room. Poured into plastic pint cup. Dark but translucent pour with a thick head. Smell is sweet and bready. Taste is thin however, lighter body than expected. Some of that bread-like flavors were present in the aftertaste. Overall good flavor but nothing much past that.

On tap at the brewery - a pretty solid attempt at a maibock - nice golden color with a hint of red/copper tint - lasting lacework - light, fruity, mildly sweet aroma - refreshing and crisp, yet with a gentle malty sweetness/fruity esters - finishes with a little too much hop bitterness for me (it kind of ruins the light fruit/malt interplay) - still pretty good though; I’ll be going back for more.

Bottled. Clear ruby, average head. Soapy orangey hop aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Hop driven with big crystal malt character. Spicy orangey finish with good bitterness.
