Description
Purchased by Tilray in 2022.
Our story started in 1998 with two friends who noticed a lack of fresh beer on Long Island and wanted to lower their bar tabs. We built a brewery on Long Island's South Shore in Patchogue, a tough and humble coastal town.
In 2014, Blue Point partnered with Anheuser-Busch, joining its family of craft brands in The High End business unit. Our operations, brewing and management team continue to be led from Patchogue, N.Y.
In 2019 we opened our new brewery on Patchogue's Main Street. This new facility will not only increase our brewing capacity, but will also lets beer lovers experience the people and place that inspire Blue Point every day. And we're pretty damn proud to be a part of that.

Bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2007-09-20, 5-3-4-2-9=23
Beautiful amber color. If the aroma has some malt, don’t seek further in the flavor. Light mouthfeel. Poor.
Bottle in New York, 2007-01-01, 6-3-6-3-13=31
Amber color. Malty nose. Also the taste is malty; reminds me some German Lager. Balanced.

Plastic pint pour at the brewpub. Color is orange/gold and absolutely clear. Aroma is a meaty sweetness (not smoke), some sugary flowers with some sweet cereal. Taste is a thick lemon-like biscuit malt and something I like to call "a german sweetness that you know shouldn’t be there." Finishes malty lemon and thick on the palate yet a light-medium drinkable body. A very strange beer, billed as an Amsterdam-inspired brew, yet it definitely taste like a sweet German beer. So I give it points for originality. Definitely would like to drink again.

Taster at brewpub. I kind of just refused to buy 6 packs of this for the price of their regular offerings. However, a free taster is fine enough and even worth rating. But overall this was actually a surprisingly decent brew. Color is dark yellow and completely lucid. A lightly sweet corn with mostly a refreshing maltiness, can’t really describe it any better. I don’t taste any lemon as the description says but it was definitely a crisp maltiness. Taste is a refreshing slightly estery maltiness peppered with light biscuit. A bunch of breweries make a light or lawnmower or summer beer but this is actually a decent one. Thirst quenching and recommended for that.

Taster at brewpub. Orange/copper color, clear beer. A sweet nutty maltiness, some light floral hoppiness. Taste is mineral with light citrus fruit and lightly malty. Easy drinking and thirst quenching. A very nice mix of nutty lager and a lightly hopped American ale. I would say this is a Vienna/APA mix. Definitely returnable and recommended.7/3/6/3/14
Re-rate from growler: very different brew the 2nd time around. Still the same color but has a beautiful large head. Aroma has gone all the way hoppy and looses and of the lagered maltiness and nuttiness it had before. Aroma is all hops with light citrus, light pine and light sweet hops. Taste is similar and finishes with light bitterness and extremely easy drinking. A definite improvement.7/4/7/3/15

On tap at D’s in Regent Square, Swissvale. Basic pale yellow american lager color and appearance but I think it is just a little hazy. Smell is a little hoppy and with some fruit. Taste is as hoppy as it smells, kind of surprising for a golden ale. Barely leaves any hop bitterness on the palate at first but it is definately hoppy. Cannot detect much citrus except for the citrus rind taste. Medium low carbonation. Bitterness on the back of the throat builds to a medium lasting linger that hangs for a while after the session. A little too much hops for me in a blonde ale. Northen Country Northern Lite is much better than this as a golden ale.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a spectacularly vibrant ruby-copper color with only a hint of a tang head. The aroma was sour, tart and tangy with a hint of vinegar. The flavor was sour, tangy, nutty and dry with a hint of vinegar and a long dry finish. Eh.

OK, had to go for this. Even though I’m not a fan of IPA, I keep tasting in the hopes I’ll find one in this style that I can appreciate. This was on tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson so I couldn’t pass it up. Color is slightly darker than your ubiquitous pale yellow American lager. Aroma is really floral hops. Very bitter first taste. A quality that only an IPA lover could love. I would swear that somebody looked for the most bitter grapefruit rinds they could find then ground them up and added them to this brew. Has a bit of earthiness that I normally don’t detect in IPA. This stuff was way too much for my girlie taste buds, it just mowed them over like a John Deere. Barely any carbonation, almost flat. Finish is back of your throat terrible bitterness that just keeps going and going and going like the energizer bunny. Somebody give me a Weyerbacher Old Heathen to chase this down with, yeeow. I’m not making any apologies for this rating.

This year’s version is not the beer I had last year - I don’t remember rye being present, and now it’s the dominant flavor in the beer - much fuller body on this one, too - it’s a little bit sweet, but the rye and hop bitterness do a decent job og making it tolerable - not bad - //////// I’ve had several pints of this at this point, both from the tap and out of a growler, and I still can’t exactly pinpoint the style (the folks pulling the taps at the brewery didn’t really know) - all I can tell is that it is a dark-colored lager, so "american dark lager" it is - of course, this does not speak well for the beer - it lacks any distinct, defining characteristics - dark copper with minimal head, despite a fizzy body - lighty bready aroma, with hints of toasted grain and very faint whiffs of malt - light-bodied, with a moderate, spicy hop profile - buttery qualities mix fairly well with a slight nuttiness - the background offers faint hints of bock-ish malt flavors - this beer really isn’t sure what it wants to be when it grows up; all it knows is it wants you to drink it, and that’s okay with me - it’s a nice, quaffable spring beer, regardless of its lack of character.

Pours gold with a little red. has a Small fizzy white head. Citrus and grassy hops are present, but not as strong as in most IPAs. Floral and fruity sweetness are also there, as well as some malt. Nice, but could use a stronger aroma. Medium, creamy body. Has a very good flavor, but again, not like an IPA. Sweet fruit, citrus, and floral hops are the most noticeable. A touch of grass comes through in the light bitter finish. I don’t see the india part of this pale ale. Pretty decent, though.

Tap at Brickhouse, to clear things up Blue Point actually brews everything for the Brickhouse. Poured into a pint glass, color is very dark pale, complete clarity. Aroma is slightly burnt, slightly sweet. Very ESB-ish, british quality. Similar aspect in the taste, a bit watered down though. A perfectly light medium body for this kind of beer. Decent enough and very quafable. I wonder how this would taste on cask.
