Description
Purchased by Tilray in 2022.
Our story started in 1998 with two friends who noticed a lack of fresh beer on Long Island and wanted to lower their bar tabs. We built a brewery on Long Island's South Shore in Patchogue, a tough and humble coastal town.
In 2014, Blue Point partnered with Anheuser-Busch, joining its family of craft brands in The High End business unit. Our operations, brewing and management team continue to be led from Patchogue, N.Y.
In 2019 we opened our new brewery on Patchogue's Main Street. This new facility will not only increase our brewing capacity, but will also lets beer lovers experience the people and place that inspire Blue Point every day. And we're pretty damn proud to be a part of that.

Quite a good pale ale, though I don’t see much in this that makes it stand out next to their other hop-oriented beers (ESB, IPA) - the malts do seem to be emphasized over the hops, giving it a slightly different character - I’m holding out for their "hoptical illusion," which I hope will be the hop-hearty ale I know that these guys are capable of making.

Odd beer - initial flavors are of hops, but those quickly fade and make way for light, fruity, belgian-like flavors - apples, pears and citrus are all evident - drinkable, but they make much better.

Attractive orangey gold with a full foamy head. Unfortunately the effervescence quickly subsided leaving a flat appearing lager in the glass, although the head remained. Aroma mildly of hops, musty and grassy. Flavor is rather mild and unremarkable, I don’t see what the fuss is all about. Not as complex as the grain bill suggests. A bit caramelly, touch of buttery malt sweetness. Mainly empty in the malt department though, with a firm hoppy finish.

This contract brew was at Brewtopia. It is brewed currently at Blue Point in Patchogue, NY, on Long Island. The ads feature alien bartenders, which weren’t that creative but I got a kick out of them. The beer is a dark amber ale, served bright. The aroma has a slight cherryish note, and a few toasty malts. The palate is clean, slightly syrupy, with a few scattered orange notes. Fairly well-balanced, leaning slightly more to the malt, but with enough bitterness to be taken seriously. I know a contract-brewed amber ale doesn’t sound good on paper, but it’s worth checking out.

Yes, it is much like a blueberry muffin, both in aroma and flavor, but is that really something to groan about? - the mild blueberry flavor is quite subdued and mingles well with the grainy, malty flavors, giving this beer a very pastry-like taste - interesting - not great, but as far as summer fruit beers go, I would take this over most.

Pale, golden, sparkling. Smells sweet & fruity - like a blueberry muffin (ugh). Flavour, thankfully, is more balanced with the blueberry integrating well with the pale malts at the beginning, becoming more prominent towards the end. The beer sweetens as it goes, but never gets back to the level of the aroma.

Copper in colour with a nice dense tan head. Strong malt aroma with some sweetness and a slight hoppy aroma. Medium-bodied; Decent lager, not too much going on, but a decent tate. Aftertaste left clean and refined with nothing bitter nor offensive. Overall, a good beer, nothing bad about it, but nothing making it an exemplary beer. I bought this twelve ounc bottle at Beers of the World and sampled it on 01-November-2003.

Golden coloured body with a large-bubbled off-white head. Aroma fairly nice showing some fresh hops, balanced malt and a residual sweetness. Medium to Light-bodied; Soapy mouthful, present malt throughout balanced nicely with a small amount of hops. Aftertaste actually more of a highlight than the taste. Nice maltiness surrounded by the hop character. Little else shows in this beer, and is unfortunately low in complexity...but really not too bad. I had this very fresh, the first few days after being available in New York. This bottle is from Baltimore, Maryland (not New York) and obviously the picture on this page needs to be replaced. Worth trying, but don't expect a Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale ;-). I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.

This stuff seems to get a little less tasty each year - this year it’s quite sweet, with a slighty metallic bitterness behind it, and a bit of diacetyl underneath the bready flavors - Hmm, quite a tasty oktoberfest - bready, sweet, lightly fruity, touch of hops for balance, thick head, medium carbonation - liquid sweetbread - nice.

Light - quenching - slightly lemony - decent hops for a summer ale - great for a bbq meal, but by itself it's a little on the bland side.
