Description
The Anstee family began supplying the hospitality trade in South Wales with beers, wines and spirits in the early 90’s. The knowledge and community ties established during this time gave us a real desire to see quality Welsh beer back on local bars. So much so we thought we’d brew some ourselves, starting out as the Kite Brewery in 2011. In 2015 and with our beers now winning awards and wider recognition we decided a new name was in order.

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 21. Thanks Jeremy for this. Piney marmalade dominates. Slick, oily palate. Not quite a West Coast IPA, but fine for an oily amber.

25th October 2021. Shrewsbury Beer Share in Chez Sophie; 5 guys splitting beers and talking bollox, great fun. I brought the 440ml can of this (BBE April 2022). It's now labelled as a West Coast IPA, so I think this is really a different beer to the older rates. Anyway this was golden amber with a white head. Nice, easy going IPA with a decent hop profile giving a piney and bitter taste, nose also piney and hoppy. Had 500ml bottle all to myself on 19th February 2026, it's a decent IPA all round, West Coast now removed from the labelling.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head. There is a subtle aroma of citrus and tangerine with hints of floral hops. In the mouth it has a buttery texture with citrus vying with hoppy bitterness for dominance. Honey and ginger come through later on, and the finish is quite bitter. Much better than I was expecting – I should have asked for a pint !

Hand-pulled pint in The Bluebell (previously the Goat Major) in Cardiff on 9th July 2021. Decent amber coloured bitter with an off-white head. Nice blend of hops and malts, nothing strong or powerful aroma or flavour wise, just an easy drinking beer.
