Description
Hambleton Brewery was born in 1991, when Nick Stafford decided to start a brewery at the bottom of his in-laws’ garden.in a converted outbuilding at the brewer's in-laws house in Holme-on-Swale. Success of the beers lead to a need to expand which resulted in a moved to a location at the opposite end of the village, The Brewery, Holme-on-Swale, in 1994. Brewing capacity was doubled in 2000. The brewery relocated to its current address in 2007.

750ml bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, chestnut brown. Messy, creamy, tan head that stays the course. Nose has coffee truffle. Fudgy malts. Milky coffee. Dried fruit. Smells great. Taste is light, roast coffee bean bitter. Some chocolate sweetness. Light, vinous tang. Medium body. Soft and foamy carbonation. Finish gets more robust bitter with some earthy, ashy notes. Did the full bottle in no time. Really drinkable.

Light haze on this gold beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has reasonable minerally carbonation. Light malts, clean and mildly sweet. Semi sweet floralness. Light orangey hop, touch of honey -orange. Very light hop spice. Finishes light and semi dry and leaves a mild bitter linger. BBE 11/2016 (thanks Drinks Well in Ripon!) but still a decent beer.

On cask at the Cask and Barrel. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - lemon and pale malt. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - not very exciting but at least it’s balanced.

Cask-conditioned on gravity at the Avon Valley Railway beer festival 4/6/2016. Golden in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Some tropical fruit character, biscuity malts, and some grassy hops, leading to a dryish finish. Fine.

This pours a clear copper colour, a finger of foam and good lacing.

The smell is of apple sugar and a hint of the hops that they say on the label.

Tastes better than it smells to me. Sugary, yes, but it comes across to me as similar to some malt attributes that I have noticed in other non gluten free beers. Apple taste is there and I think it contributes rather than detracts from the overall taste. Very little hint of hops but at this point, it just doesn’t matter.

Decent mouthfeel for the lowish abv.

Interesting. I’m not sorry that I bought it but there’s little chance of a repurchase despite my not negative review.

750ml bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear gold. Messy, sticky, white head. Leggy and oily in the glass. Looks like a 10%er! Nose has spicy biscuit malts. Orangey hop. Some lemon and lime. Hint of dried apricot. It’s no juicy banger, but overall it’s fruity and well balanced. Taste is fruity, oily, zesty bitter. Soft biscuit sweetness throughout. Robust, oily mouthfeel. Feels a tad heavy, mind. Long, fruity bitter finish, with some resiny characteristics coming through.

Black beer with an off-white head and a light, malty aroma. Flavour is lighter than I expected to. Earthy malt, bitter chocolate, some coffee as well.there’s a bit of fruitiness in the aftertaste too. It’s not spectacular but it’s a good, tasty stout and I could happily sit and have a few (though the 6.5% might be an issue on that front!)
