Description
2012 we started with a Sheffield pub the Fox & Duck in Broomhill and followed this in 2014 with the Doctor’s Orders on Glossop Rd. We’d always had a love for cask across the pubs and whilst on holiday having the odd shandy came up with the brilliant idea of opening a microbrewery and serving our own quality ales.
Late 2015 we found a unit in the Kelham area where we knew the water was good and immediately felt at home. Cold Room built, drainage plinth sorted, Dave Porter supplied and fitted the kit – we started our adventures in brewing beer.
As per plan within a short period of time we took on an experienced brewer. This was followed by us taking on a full time sales and delivery person. We’ve continued to grow the business with new processes, new kit, more people, new recipes and now have a stable 10BBL plant with a great team.
With great folk working for us at the brewery we continue to learn everyday. We’re passionate about making beer and try to retain the home brew spirit of experimentation and fun. We really appreciate the feedback we’re getting from our growing customer base and looking forward to a return to growth over 2021.

Panda 🐼 at home thanks to SHIG. A clear nut brown coloured pour with a lasting beige head. Aroma is creamy coconut, nuuty malts, hazelnut, almond milk, some low jammy. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, desiccated coconut, nutty, creamy, light mineral, hazelnut. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, highish carbonation. Good.

18/7/2021. Can sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers! Pours clear dark mahogany brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of coconut, milk chocolate, cocoa, nut, bounty bar, light roasted notes. Medium plus sweetness and light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight sticky texture, average carbonation. Enjoyable but would have enjoyed more with a bit more body.

Cask at Flowerpot, Derby. Pours hazy lemon yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Strangely there was definitely bacon in the aroma ! More prosaically some lemon as well. In the mouth it has a creamy texture. Flavour is grassy with lemon and hints of lime with hops taking their time to appear. Finish is slightly dry with lemon. I wasn’t too keen on this one – not sure why.

Cask at the Smithfield, Derby as part of the 5 June 2021 RB meet-up. Dark reddish brown with a light beige/khaki head. The aroma is dominated by sweet coconut. Sweet taste, again lots of coconut, with a bit of a sourness and slight vegetal note to the finish. Low to no carbonation, light body for the ABV. Flawed but overall delicious.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. Lightly hazy, straw gold. Just a halo and a faint swirl of white head. Nose has jellied fruit. Rhubarb and Custard sweets. Clean malts. Taste has some jellied fruit sweetness, and a fairly decent pop of crisp, citrus bitterness. Light to medium body with brisk carbonation. A tad drying. Moderate bitterness to finish. Decent APA.
