Description
Welbeck is one of the great traditional landed estates bordering Sherwood Forest. It is home to an artisan village, producing specialist foods and crafts in a beautiful rural setting.
General Manager and brewer, Claire Monk, established our microbrewery in 2011. It’s housed in a beautiful listed barn at the heart of this community, and has steadily grown in size to meet the demand for good local beer. We also have some fabulous neighbours in adjacent barns, including a coffee roaster, chocolatier and bakery. All our products can be found at the Welbeck Farm shop in the Welbeck Courtyard.
The two guiding principles which underpin our brewery are to produce the best quality beer in the market, and provide our customers with exemplary service every time. Our head brewer, James, brews 15,000 pints a week which we supply into pubs, restaurants and specialist bottle beer shops within a 35 mile radius.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with a slight greenish tinge, and a small scummy almost white head. The aroma has malts and lime plus some spicy hints. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but also somewhat thin. Flavour is initially malts, biscuits and citrus. Later there is some bitterness, hints of grass and spice which increases to strongly influence the slightly dry finish. This is decent.

Pint at the Crosse Keys in The City. It had been long day and this was needed. Looked great in the glass and the taste and mouthfeel were all about the rich malt. Some balancing bitter hops, but this was all about the malt. And rather good.

Cask at the Barrel Vault, St Pancras on 2nd May 2026. Deep ruby copper with shallow, pale tan foam affording full lacing. Malty aroma. Leafy and grassy bitter hoppiness in-mouth with robust malt line. A complex bitter finish. Smooth mouthfeel and a fair amount of body. Superb.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. Birthday gift from the missus. Tired looking hazy gold. Barely a head. Looks shit. Nose has some wheat and old malt. Taste is sweet with a little bitterness. Dull and flabby. Welbeck can’t brew a decent beer lately.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A chestnut coloured pour with a tight cream head; malty aroma; sweet malty taste with a gentle woody bitterness; then a dry biscuity finish with some tart red berries. A pleasant bitter.
