On draft at Black Flannel Brewpub.
Poured into a nonic pint glass.
Appearance is as shown in the picture.
Aroma: soft clean dark roasted malts, some dry sweet earthy to black coffee-ish tones with some anise
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet quality with a slight bitter to roasty edge trying to rise up for balance; finishes with a slight lower than normal dry speck and some dark chocolate to anise-like blended tones
Texture: light to medium bodied; sessionable; great amount of smoothness, good carb level
Overall: way smoother and not as dry as many Irish dry stouts on the market these days, did I like this? Sure I did, I didn't mind this was way more drinkable than the overly dry ones of this style.

On draft at Black Flannel Brewpub.
Appearance is as shown in the picture.
Aroma: soft sweet toasty nuts with clean caramel/toffee character and some milk chocolate scents
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine variety of different sweet qualities; finishes smooth and strolling through those prior noted aromas in a sweet and nutty way
Texture: light to medium bodied; sessionable; very smooth along the tongue; good carb level - mostly low-ish
Overall: to me, this was a very nicely done English brown ale which I was told by one of the beertenders that they were going for an English style with this one. Yes, I would most definitely return to this.

On tap at Black Flannel Brewpub.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
Appearance is as shown in the picture
Aroma: sweet earthy to dry molasses-ish to dark bready toned with some rustic to dried floral notes underneath
Flavor: mostly combines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to mildly bitter sort of earthy quality; finishes somewhat dusty earthy-toned with a pinch of dry and dark breadiness
Texture: light to medium bodied; sessionable; good smoothness along the tongue with just a wee bit of earthy ruggedness but man, that's just so faint I almost feel like it's barely worth mentioning
Overall: what an altbier! Not sure why they're not canning this yet, maybe they will eventually. I would definitely come back to this.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: bronzed yellow to copper color with a light transparency about it and a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet grains with a super light spicy to semi-floral sweet toned hoppy quality
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a semi-sweet quality; finishes about the same with a touch of dryness
Texture: light bodied; sessionable; good smoothness with not much distracting; good carb level
Overall: not bad, maybe again and possibly next time straight out of the can and next to my grill.

Can to lager glass.
Appearance: glossy honey to almost copper color with a slight transparency about it and a two and a half fingers of white foamy head which dissipated at a nice pace to leave some light lace
Aroma: sweet herbal and sweet floral hops with a little bit of honey sweetness and then a touch of lemongrass; biscuity malts underneath
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas together in a slight sweet to semi-bitter quality; finishes semi-crisp with herbal/sweet grassy/pizza spices' notes
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; good smoothness with nothing distracting; good carb
Overall: yeah, I think I can see this as an Italian pilsener which is what the brewer says they're going for with this and for once unlike many other Italian pilseners this isn't oily in the feel - kinda makes me wonder about some of those other "Italian pilseners," hmmmm...

Can to lager glass.
Appearance: glossy yellow to almost copper color with a slight cloudiness to it and a three finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: herbal to lemony to ever so slightly floral hop tones with a crackery/bready malt backbone
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to bittersweet quality; finishes crisp with a touch of dryness and a hint of bready malts
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; pretty smooth along the tongue with nothing distracting the flow; nice level of carb
Overall: pretty nicely done pilsener I believe does fine leaning towards being a German one. I'd come back to this this easy drinker.

Can to becher glass.
Appearance: bronzed yellow chill haze color with a three finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely then left some light lace
Aroma: orange rind sweetness initially then some of the bitterness of the rind comes out with more sips, light lemony to piney hop tones; clean malts
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a sweet yeasty to semi-piney bitter to orange-rind-like bitter quality; finishes about the same with a yeasty to lemony dryness
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; some smoothness but also some bitterness slightly invasive to the tongue
Overall: maybe not their best work but certainly not their worst beer.
