Description
A small family run brewery in the heart of South Yorkshire with the core aim of creating quality ales. We use no added sugar, all our ales are purely brewed with the finest ingredients. We have zero waste with all our left over malts and hops going to the local cows! Our first ever brew that has remained our most popular beer is New York Pale that was brewed to celebrate the New York Stadium Beer Festival. We actually sold out of all our beer in record time! We have several core beers with specials being brewed regularly to satisfy all tastes. Our core ales have accumulated some fantastic awards with our infamous Two Magpies Porter winning the Champion Beer of Beers 2018. In 2020 we also expanded to brewing a Helles and a Pilsner style lager.

Bottle. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Dropped off this morning by Terry, the landlord (no, really). My father in law ran this pub for 6 years in the 90s, and his name is Terry, too. So there’s that. Mostly clear, pale amber. Very decent, sticky, lasting, dense, off white foam. Looks the beans. Nose has caramel malt. Some sappy hop. Some toffee. Some floral notes. Touch of torn basil or tomato leaf. Taste has a light sweetness, but is pretty bitter and floral. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Great golde in fantastic nick.

Bottle from Craft & Berry. Appearance - deep brown to black with orange chinks. Off white to tan head. Nose - toffee, prune, raisin and leather. Taste - prunes again, leather and smoky liquorice or cardamom. Palate - close to medium bodied. Sweet and rich through the middle. The finish has just enough malt bitterness to have you returning soon for more. Overall - lovely stuff.

Bottle. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Takeaway job, obviously. Currently on here as a Belgian Ale? Clear gold. Decent white head. Nose definitely has more than a passing resemblance to Jever, which is fine by me. Decent level of bitterness too, albeit not as robust as Jever. Clean and crisp on the palate. Moderate bitterness to finish. Chantry do make good lagers.
