Description
A small family run brewery in the heart of South Yorkshire with the core aim of creating quality ales. We use no added sugar, all our ales are purely brewed with the finest ingredients. We have zero waste with all our left over malts and hops going to the local cows! Our first ever brew that has remained our most popular beer is New York Pale that was brewed to celebrate the New York Stadium Beer Festival. We actually sold out of all our beer in record time! We have several core beers with specials being brewed regularly to satisfy all tastes. Our core ales have accumulated some fantastic awards with our infamous Two Magpies Porter winning the Champion Beer of Beers 2018. In 2020 we also expanded to brewing a Helles and a Pilsner style lager.

Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Clear gold. Super creamy, dense, fully lacing, lasting, bright white head. Looks like a perfect pint of hote. Smells clean and lightly hoppy. Fresh, and lightly bitter on the palate. Perfect nick. Can’t help but think this is a re-badge of something else, though. My guess is that Chantry do a bit of a Thornbridge in that respect. Good beer. I’m sure I’ve had it before, though.

Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Did the first pint of this in about 3 minutes. Clear, deep, amber colour. Thin, super dense, sparkler induced, cream coloured head. Nose has chocolate malt. Light roast coffee. Sweet vine fruit. Creamy malts. Taste is chocolatey sweet, with a light, leafy, vine fruit bitterness. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. Light vinous finish, with a soft chocolate character. Great beer in fantastic condition.

Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Clear, chestnut brown, verging on ruby red. Thin and dense, lasting, pale beige head. Not sure a beer could look any better. Nose has cake mix. Lots of vine fruit and toffee. Hint of baked apple. Toasted malts. Buttered toast. Smells great. Taste is pretty sweet, with a decent amount of vinous bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. No trace of the ABV. Fine carbonation. Lingering vine fruit bitterness to finish. Fantastic beer in stupendous condition.

Cask at Old Bell, Derby A heady combination of malts and cherries in the nose. Pours almost completely black with a small cream head. In the mouth cherries predominate with hints of raspberry and blackcurrant. Also vinegar – but in a good way. At the finish it is cherries again. Nice, but would have been better with less emphasis on the cherries !

Bottle. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Pale gold. Soft haze. Messy, thin white foam. Nose has sweet, fruited tea loaf. Fusty citrus peel. Some sherbet. Taste is nicely bitter, with less sweetness than the aroma suggests. Light to medium body. Bright carbonation. Light, lingering bitterness to finish. Tastes better than it smells!

Cask. Chantry Inn, Handsworth, Sheffield. Hoped this would be same league as Hop in the Wall, but it’s not. This is a fairly bog standard hote golde with a lot of leafy bitterness. Good nick and that, but didn’t warrant a second helping.
