Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Leicester city centre. Pours a light and slightly insipid brown. Clear with a small clunpy beige/khaki head. Oaky, vinous and slightly spur aroma. Taste is sweet, with that oaky sourness the beat bitters have. Big caramel malt to the fore with physialis and more caramel syrup. Woody notes and bitter hop in the finish. Light body, soft carbonation. Incredible. What a bitter.

Keg draught at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate, Leicester. Murky mid- to dark gold with a spotty white head. Fresh, zesty aroma with lots of pink grapefruit, lemongrass, pineapple. Bittersweet taste, loads of tropical fruit to the fore with a decent little malt base. Light sugary notes nearer to the finish. Medium body with very heavy carbonation. Not one of Shiny's more exciting beers but still pretty darn good.

Handpull cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate, Leicester. Light yellow/gold and hazy with a thin ring of white head. Pineapple, grapefruit and sweaty apricot (think if a giant juicy apricot got the meat sweats) on the nose... inexplicably gorgeous. Tastes even better: sweet, just short of sickly, with stone fruit and sticky tropical fruits to the fore. Light bitterness nearer the finish but it ends creamy and sweet. Full body for the ABV, very soft carbonation. Seek it out.

Can at the Strait and Narrow. Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma and taste are fruity citrus and light juicy sweet. Smooth body.

Cask @ The Baum, Rochdale. Murky golden with a thick creamy-frothy head. Hoppy first with a light tropical fruit taste to follow, which is perhaps best in its aftertaste.

Keg draught at the Real Ale Classroom, city centre, Leicester. Very dark red, opaque with a small uneven layer of pinkish-white head. Getting full milk chocolate notes in the aroma, with any fruit taking a back seat. Taste brings out the sourness of rhe cherry but the chocolate chip sweetness is never very far away. Short finish. The body is fairly watery with carbonation on the heavy side. It's pretty bloody brilliant.

Draught keg at the Real Ale Classroom, city centre, Leicester. Lightish gold, hazy with a small uneven head and lots of lacing. Aroma feels like a juxtaposition of the grapefruit character if Citra and the mint/herbal notes of Talus. Tastes that way too, although in the taste it's a bit smoother. Light body, heavy-ish carbonation. It kind of grows on me, messy though it may be.

Cask at the Real Ale Classroom, City Centre, Leicester. Mid-gold and absolutely clear with a loose ring of white head. Gorgeous notes of gooseberry, stone fruits, some honey, marmalade, wildflowers. Incredible. Taste offers up the sweetness with a good hit of Nelson, turning bitter with loads of hop oils on the tongue. Light body with soft to nil carbonation. Just delightful.

Keg at The Furnace, Derby, Monday 1st April 2024 in the company of Dad and Pauline. Pours almost black with a large beige head. This is lovely, some chocolate, a dryness also, smooth and easy drinking.
