Description
Blue Bee Brewery is an independent brewery in the heart of the valley of beer in Sheffield, England.
Blue Bee was set up in 2010 by Richard Hough, former head brewer at Abbeydale, who has also done stints at Acorn, Crown, Spire, Raw and Marble. Starting his own brewery allows him to use this invaluable experience on his own terms, creating beers that are noted for “quality, consistency and with a slight addiction factor”. In 2014 the business was acquired by Reet Ale Pubs, which runs three pubs in Sheffield.

Cask @ Calans, Hebden Bridge. Paler golden coloured with a small creamy head. The hop is dominant with a slight dryness attached. There’s some maltiness here too.

Cask. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Clear, reddy Amber. Messy, bubbly, sticky, just off white head. Spicy hop. Very juicy. Alpine strawberry and the like. Light, soft toffee malts. Some resin on the back burner. Taste is spicy bittersweet. Smooth, nicely oily, full palate. Finishes spicy, light bitter. Very nice. These Blue Bee beers keep getting better.

On cask at Three Tuns, Dronfield - Clear yellow body, thick lacing white head. Body on this one was quite creamy, which made it go down too easy. The nose was tropical fruits, unripe mango and guava, with a citrus afterkick. Taste had a rawness about it, but not in a bad way. Quite a decent one really, nice and fruity.
