Description
Blue Bee Brewery is an independent brewery in the heart of the valley of beer in Sheffield, England.

Blue Bee was set up in 2010 by Richard Hough, former head brewer at Abbeydale, who has also done stints at Acorn, Crown, Spire, Raw and Marble. Starting his own brewery allows him to use this invaluable experience on his own terms, creating beers that are noted for “quality, consistency and with a slight addiction factor”. In 2014 the business was acquired by Reet Ale Pubs, which runs three pubs in Sheffield.

Cask at the Craft Beer Co, London on 31st March 2012. Rich roasty aroma. Liquid is medium thick bodied with coffee, lemongrasss, smoky touches and chicory. These notes all sit well with one another. Slight asltiness. Aftertaste has many of these attributes with a bitter note in addition. Saline mouthfeel - unusual for a stout but enjoyable anyway. 7/4/8/5/18 _________________________________________________________ Re-rating February 2016: Cask at the Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield on 19th February 2016. Black-sepia with pale tan shallow lacing foam. Fine roast malt aroma. Rich and intense roasted malt in-mouth with touches of smoke and nuttiness. Nutty, bitter finish. Fair-bodied with a full engaging texture. Exquisite.

Half pint: gravity poured at a beerfest in The George Inn, Eccleshall (April 2012). Dark brown, almost black in fact: cream head in colour and texture, looked fine. Smell was all burnt and toasted/roasted malts; without any sweetness. We are talking black coffee and bitter dark chocolate here. These aromas carry on into the taste, a rich blend of dry maltiness hits your tongue. Good beer to finish the night on: sadly I had another two pubs to visit, one of which was also having a beerfest.

Cask handpull at Gardeners Rest Sheffield. Now this is odd. Its either amazing or off. If its amazing then it has a sour dark fruit bacon edge to it. If this is off then its on the turn. I like to think the former. Some sting on finish. Pretty good.
