Cask at Beachy Head Inn, Eastbourne: Clear, chestnut-amber coloured, small off-white head with a good lace, moderate caramelly-fruity nose - dried fruits detectable, light bodied, pretty soft, moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour; lingering raisiny-caramelly finish, nutty flavours detectable in the slight hoppy aftertaste. Nice thirst-quencher......

[Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading] Dark brown with a cream head. Smooth, sweet and comforting, with a restrained roastiness, chocolate and caramel throughout. Very mellow, one to slowly melt into and relax.

Cask handpull at Leicesyer Square Spoons. Very deep brown ruby colour with lasring thick cream head. Its a brown ale as far as I can tell. Lotz of rich slightly dry malt. Aroma of cake and malt tastes of cake and malt. Very decent condition and very drinkable. Decent beer. Lightish in abv but full of flavour and condition. Likeable

Cask at the Cornfield Garage (JDW), Eastbourne. Deep tawny brown with a loose beige head; straightforward malty aroma; smooth with a malty flavour but lighter than the traditional "heavy"; the finish is dry with toasty malts. A satisfying malty pint.

Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours very dark brown, with a decent beige head. The nose is chocolate, caramel, treacle and smoke. The taste is chocolate, caramel, wood, leather, dark dried fruit, blueberry, warming spice and coffee, with a dry finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and decent balance. Smooth and easy drinking.

Cask @ Crystal Palace, JDW. Spoons Real Ale Festival autumn 2011. Deep bordeaux red colour, beige head. Nose is light roasted malts, coffee and dark fruits. Flavour of roasted malts, light coffee, fruits. Thin bodied. Shame, lots of potential here.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours red-brown with a creamy, beige head. Light roast aroma with hints of wood. Sweet flavor, mild roasted malts, subtle milk chocolate, some fine bread. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Mild roasty finish, lightly toasted sugar, faint leafy bitterness, a bit of bread. Very easy-drinking beer.

Taste - Dark caramel malt, light bitter hop, some fruityness.
Palate - Medium body, soft carb. Finish - light bitter with a bit of spicy hop and dark malt.
Overall - It’s an OK bitter but nothing special.
