To brew the best beers possible requires the best brewery equipment available. Our 20 barrel brewery equipment was previously at the Canongate Brewery on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. This was Scottish & Newcastle’s pilot brew house and as you would expect, was built to a very high specification. Indeed, it remains probably the best equipment of its size anywhere in the UK today. Our flexible Brewery with its special Lautering system allows us to brew between 3,000 and 17,000 pints per day and importantly ensures that we can maintain the highest quality and guarantee a regular supply of cask, keg and bottled beers to the drinkers of the North East and beyond.

Cask @ Leeds Station Wetherspoon, Leeds. Amber with a creamy head. Has a hoppy-sweet aroma and taste with strength a factor in this.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small off-white head. Toffee and liquorice are prominent in the aroma. In the mouth, there is a mix of dried fruit , chocolate, cherries and liquorice with an underlying malt base. This is a general slight sweetness, again with some bitterness underneath. Fruitcake and treacle in the finish. This is a pretty good traditional strong ale.

Thin beige head left a spotty cover on a dark brown body. Toffee & caramel aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the tongue with a tingling sensation on the back. Toffee, malt, caramel & aniseed tastes with lightly hopped fruity finish. Standard ESB.

Cask @ JDW Montgomery's Tower. Amber pour. Has a nice alluring pineapple sweetness coursing through, a touch creamy even. Quite nice.
