Description
Portobello was founded by Rob Jenkins & Farooq Khalid in September 2012. Rob is a beer industry veteran who’s worked across the industry in a career spanning 30+ years. Farooq is a brewing and engineering whizz who is just as comfortable designing & building new bits of brew kit as he is devising delicious recipes.

Cask at Eltham GPO, Eltham. Copper coloured pour with a beige head. Aromas of strawberry jam, toffee apple, lots of red berries. Flavours of orchard fruits, toffee apple, lots of red fruits. Jammy sweet & lightly bitter finish. Interesting brew.

Cask @ Ye Olde Cock Tavern, London. Clear mahagony with a small white head. Aroma of toffee, marzipan, fudge and malts. Taste of toffee, marzipan, fudge, malts, dried fruits with hints of chocolate and oranges. Low bitterness. Low carbonation. Excellent.

Cask at the Eltham GPO, Eltham. Clear gold pour with a white head. Grapefruit, tropical fruit & white grape aromas. Taste is white grape, lime, grapefruit, touch of tropical fruit coming through in the back end.

Pours a clear golden colour with a small mostly lasting foamy white head. The aroma is light, grainy with tropical fruit and floral hop notes. A moderately sweet grainy taste, tropical fruit flavours with a light bitterness.

Pours dark brown, fairly clear. Scent is mild, some whiff of roastyness. Taste is full, dry maltyness (roasty) - touch of sweetness. Sharp, porter-typical side to it. OK.

Cask at the New Inn, Littlehampton. Poured a crystal clear medium amber colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt and yeast. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, malt, nutty, light herbal, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A solid session bitter.

Cask@Angleterre, Helsinki. Golden colour, no head. Aroma is wood, grass, grains, herbs and earth. Flavour is berries, sulphur and some earthy notes. Big sulphury kick to it. Blech.

From cask at The Royal Albert, New Cross, London, with Terje at a jazz quintet concert 23.04.23. Ebony. Pale brown head. Fine aroma and taste of roasted malt, liquorice, tobacco and brittle, all balanced by decent bitterness in aftertaste.
