Blend #9. Pour from a bottle at Wildflower Taproom, Marrickville. Pours pale hazy yellow gold, white head with lacing. Aromas of yeast, straw, peach, citrus, pears, light funk. The taste follows the aroma, in addition it’s dry & lightly spicy with soft acidity. Medium bodied, soft carb. Dry, mildly funky finish. Much potential here

On keg at Wildflower Taproom, Marrickville. Pours lightly hazed pale yellow gold with a white head. Aroma has light malts, citrus, a little grass. Taste is light sweet, light bitter, citrus & lemon, hints of Belgian yeast. Light bodied, soft carb, smooth mouthfeel. Very crushable at 3% on a hot, hot day

Blend 3. Clear pale gold with a white head that doesn’t last all that long. 3+ Aroma is funky but not feral, with mellow citrus, pears, flowers, spices, nectarines, a little honey. Light bodied, carbonation is lowish but not too low for me. A little slightly damp hay and nectarine sweetness, pears squished in your fist right now. Mildly spiced bitter finish is fairly dry. Self effacing to a degree that I wondered whether it might feel a bit watery by the second glass, but not at all - the mild astringency crept up just a bit and the beer maintained enough of a presence. Impressive. Second glass -- a bit cloudy, but fine -- matched well with Woombye Blackall washed rind cheese.

Bottle. Unclear amber with a light beige head that’s soon a coat. Intriguing aroma with toasted grains, old lemons, oak, the laundry. Some floral and woody notes that I don’t want to say are like gumnuts, but they are. 7+ A sip is more impressive - there’s a very nice balance of toasted grainy sweetness, soft creaminess and a little overt acid. Carbonation is just on the low side of moderate. Fruity and herbal flavours are well integrated. Quite gentle - clearly going for sophisticated with a rustic undercroft. I don’t know whether I wanted a bit more presence but it’s a beguiling drop.
