On tap at 16 Tun. Sour aroma hides the hops completely. Flavour has the berliner weisse notes big, but the hops bring some fruit and then there’s something completely unwanted. Not quite sure what it is but the aftertaste is not pleasant. Judging from previous reviews, I think they must have updated the recipe, as this is definitely sour.

On tap at 16 Tun. Aroma is all sweet pine. Taste has pine, some tropical mango and, dare I say it, some anchovy-esque savouriness.

On tap at Brother’s Beer. Aroma is chocolate and coffee and maybe a little seawater. Flavour is bitter coffee up front and then a briney chocolate finish. There’s a little spiced rum in there providing some alcohol heat and an umami soy note too. Really quite nice. Little thin bodied for an imperial.

Growler. Bright amber with a white head that never quite disappears.3+ Aroma of grapefruit, kumquat, pine, mango skin, bread crust On the light side of medium bodied. Perhaps slightly sweeter than expect, but due to more tropical fruit (and maybe some mandarins - there’s a nice little choc-orange note) rather than more bread or caramel. Dries out a little with moderately strong bitterness so the finish is a gradual fading of fruity and resinous flavours. Could be more raucous but I like the balance Liberty strikes very well.

Bottle. Very pale orange with a white head. 3- Aroma of grapefruit, mandarin, grass clippings, some peach. Light bodied, fairly dry. Some hay and minor toasty notes, but a big blast of hops. Mainly citrus, also that sticky grassy/ gooseberry/ grapey thing that NS delivers on a good day. Medium high bitterness. Enough of it and of malt of sufficient quality to show the hops to advantage. Good.

Pint at brewer’s cooperative. Grassy and sweet, and I love it. I really enjoy single hop IPAs and this is no exception.
